Acerca de esta escucha

Everyone wants to be normal but no one wants to be ordinary.

When my most hated enemy, Bastion, comes to me for help I tell him to take a long walk off a short pier. I’m not helping the griffin assassin that once killed my lover. But when the Crone visits my coven, she tells me that I have to help him find his daughter or else I won’t achieve my full potential.

I want greatness like others want wealth. Keep your fame and fortune, make sure my life matters. I reluctantly agree to help locate the missing griffin. I’m not going to cut my nose off to spite my face. If greatness is on the cards then I’m going to play, no matter who deals my hand.

When a raven with broken wings lands on my balcony, I know that a black witch has entered the game. Finding the griffin suddenly becomes a lot more complicated than I’d thought. I’ll have to awaken my sentient grimoire to help me find the answers I seek, and that always has its price.

Only time will tell whether it is one that I can afford to pay...

Don't miss this witchy series if you like humour, heart and a strong heroine with a slow burn, enemies to lovers, fade-to-black romance.

Interesting novella

I enjoyed listening to this prequel for this series. It definitely drew me in with storyline and I cannot wait to start the series. The narrator did a nice job also.

Thrilling start to the Amber DeLea Series!!

Rune of the Witch is the introduction to ‘The Other Witch Series’ a spin off to ‘The Other Realm’ series and a focus on the witch Amber DeLea. Despite her often snapping and sarcastic attitude, throughout the Other Realm series, we have learned that Amber is far more than she seems, and actually has quite a soft side when you remove the hard outer shell.
This prequel is a clever intro to the series as it allows readers who may not have really read either the Other Realm series or the Other Wolf series to get a feel for Amber, and dive right into the Other Witch series.
However, I would advise reading the other two series first before reading this series to get the most out of these books.
We find Amber catching up on the running of the Coven, when she is interrupted by the one creature she dislikes most in the world, Bastion the Griffon. This is because Bastion killed the love of her life, Jake, to silence him from speaking on about an incident that had occurred earlier in his life. He was the last piece of the puzzle. But it also broke Amber’s heart, and she can never forgive Bastion.
Bastion however, needs her help to find his missing daughter, Charlize, who has been taken.
As the story unfolds, we get to meet multiple Characters in Amber’s life, and are introduced to the wider spectrum of life within the Coven, as well as what it is like to be the Coven Mother. Amber consults people like ‘The Crone’, a wise old sage within the magical organisation of witches, who moves between each of the Coven’s to both help, and search for corrupted (or ‘Black’) witches, who use dark magic).
She also goes to see her Mother – and so we see insight into the personal life of Amber.
This is an outstanding induction into the Other Witch series, and what is going to be an exceptional and fascinating journey with Amber DeLea as we follow her to try and save Bastion’s Daughter.
Harris creates extraordinary characters with effortless ease, they so quickly become friends, and people you just have to know more about? Amber DeLea has long been a fascinating character in the other series, hidden behind a veneer of sarcasm and sharp comments. But there has always been that interest to get to know more about her, as there have been hints about her past, the power she carries, as well as how old she is. She is a formidable witch, and deep down, a caring person. As this prequel unfolds, we start to chip away at that hard shell, and see some of the inner workings, and it only makes the story and upcoming series more captivating. Harris has also grown the world building to develop the magic system, including the actual runes used in the magic by the witches, with explanations for what each one does, making the series even more compelling.
Add to that, the potential to learn more about Bastion and the Griffons, and this is going to be a thrill ride not to be missed!!
If you have read any of the Other Realms books, this is a must read, and even if you haven’t, this is a fun place to start the Amber DeLea witch series! Must read for any Urban Fantasy Fan!!

Bastion’s awesomeness

This series is so good. Love Ambers evolution to a softer, but still kick ass, leader. Bastion is a wonderful book bf! Can’t wait to listen to the next one!

Great introduction to this Urban Fantasy series!

This was a great introduction to Amber & Bastion's story. They are both intriguing characters who I've wanted to learn more about. I've been introduced to both of them throughout this world and I can't wait to see where their stories go. I can't wait to dive into this series.
