And Christmas is just around the corner.
The flooding in the city below the hills and the small community where Emily has lived her entire life isn’t an unusual event but no one remembers the last time it happened just days before Christmas. And Emily and Mac aren’t the only residents whose plans for the holidays are thrown into chaos as everyone does what they can to travel towards higher or drier land. In Mac’s case, after giving Emily a call…he does both.
Before long, Emily, her family, their friends, and friends of their friends, are preparing for a Christmas holiday together. For many of them the holiday season wasn’t something they looked forward to. Even the joyous tasks of putting up decorations and baking cookies was little more than going through the motions.
