Power of One's Identity

This book really drives home the value of a person.

Within the storyline, the main character's story is shared through childhood, desire, pain, heartache, and true love. The development of the main character is wonderfully portrayed and is strengthened as the story continues.

Hard to hear some of the true-to-life portrayals presented in the storyline...it draws you in and will open your eyes to reality.

Content for more mature audiences is recommended. Great for true crime reads!!

Wow, I couldn't stop listening to this book!

I was definitely surprised all the way listening to this book. It really opened my eyes on a lot of things that I never thought about, especially all the pain and suffering people go through in their daily lives but you don't always see that on the outside. The stories were very captivating. Bravo to the author for writing this fantastic novel!

Interesting mystery with soul

This books has well developed characters and suspense in the search for Birdie. Birdie’s daughter, Carli’s love for her mom and spirit I’m never give up is true love.
The narrator was also quite good.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and believe you would too.

Amazing Great Book

This book is interesting and full of a lot of learning. When one start reading the book you would not feel like putting the book down. It takes you on a journey and with curiosity and excitement one wants to see the end of it. It is very rich with suspense which makes you want to keep reading until you get answers to all the questions. I related with the characters in the book there by having a fun ride through the book.

Great story exploring a topical theme

Not only does this book have a good storyline it also explores the current theme of black women that go missing and how difficult it is to navigate your way through officialdom to make any progress.

Loved it!

I'm not usually into longer audiobooks but this one was, wow! such a thriller and left me wanting to keep listening. I've missed my 9pm bedtime last night because I NEEEDED to hear the end and could not wait for the morning. Would recommend for those into true crime!

Powerful

This is an incredible story about a young woman who goes missing without a trace. It is also touched on some heavy topics such as colorism, sexism, racism, LGBTQ prejudice, and the joys and limitations of true love. It was an emotional journey that left me feeling both heartbroken and hopeful, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a thought-provoking book.
What impressed me was how well the author was able to keep me guessing throughout the book. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, a new piece of information would come to light and change everything.

Kept Me Guessing

It was once said, "Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind, always." Such a quote sums up this book about centering around one woman's mystery to discover her own personal truth. Once I started listening to this book, I could not put it down. The plot was intricately constructed and always kept me guessing at every turn. I also liked how there was a nice human touch to the whole book, which helped give it a sense of honesty and sincerity.
