As soon as I start the book I’m hooked and it’s the same way with all her books

love the passion

each book in this series keeps getting better. not only did I find myself falling for the heroines and sorrow for them when things turned bad but in this story I found myself heartbroken for Lilly. I also wanted to beat the crap of a group of men and trust me I can. as a former special ops Sargent, at 6-2, 235 lbs I feel like I could insert myself into any of the male characters throughout this series, especially since I suffer from some of the same issues and feelings they have. it hurts a little when they are in pain during the stories but really feel good and have a little hope for myself by the end. thanks for some awesome stories !

I loved how Heather came to light!!

I love reading Susan Stoker books and this one didn't disappoint at all !! Sunshine/Heather deserved to find her happy ending. I hate that once it's discovered who she is, we realize that her family is gone, but she's not alone! Tal comes to rescue time and time again and is the gentlest man .

Most exciting and emotional SS book ever

This is one of the most emotionally charged books I think SS has ever written. I'm very glad the bad guy didn't get much talking time because there was no way a reader wants to hear that twisted thought.

Heather is the ultimate person we should all inspire to be. Big heart, craves knowledge, generally nice human being. Great story and I love how Tal can be recognized as a man that wants to be a provider. Admitting he appreciates a woman's independence but still wants to take care of her and that she can LET him do it was the best part of this story for me.

Due to Heather's circumstances, of course these two are ultimately compatible. Wonderful story and can't wait for the last installment!

Patience + Love = Growth

HOORAY! How I looked forward to this book! I typically read them first, and then go back to listen (I’m a quick reader and sometimes miss a few things!) but I was SO looking forward to Talon’s caretaking story, I just had to listen first as the audiobook came out a week earlier than the ebook. It was a perfect way to rest the day after a busy holiday!

SENSITIVITY: If you are sensitive to serious abuse/kidnapping, it may be a bit tough because it is mentioned continuously throughout the book, but absolutely worth it to witness the growth and strength in these characters. I am highly, HIGHLY sensitive to it, but in all of Stoker’s many, many books, there is only one from another series that I truly struggled with afterwards (just too creepy/scary for me), and this was not it. I have actually found great comfort in being a witness to the healing journey of the characters, though they are, of course, fictional.

WRITING: I love how Susan Stoker IS predictable in her stories (I like familiar formats, language, and characters I can rely on!) AND she continues to be utterly creative and clever with her storylines, arcs, and characters, so I look forward to each and every book. This series has been lovely.

NARRATION: Brava to Samantha! I loved her narration, voices, and delivery, *especially* Talon! Perfect fit for the book, in my opinion.
I like John’s other work, but felt he wasn’t cast correctly here. His Talon sounded older and harsher than the character written (I actually preferred Samantha’s version of Tal), and the American characters had more of a Midwest accent that didn’t quite fit the area. As said before, the delivery of the other protagonist characters also felt harsher than I think was written, and I felt like the pacing was a bit too slow. I listened at 1.2 speed for his parts and it helped a lot. For the antagonist, he nailed it!
Again, John is a great narrator, but not the right fit for this story. Then again, I’m a former vocal director and am very attuned to and sensitive to “casting”!

FALLPORT: I’m looking forward to the final book in the series, but so sad it’s ending! I’m a HUGE fan of series writing because we get to follow everyone for awhile. I love Fallport: the small town with big characters with heroes and heroines of all ages, shapes, sizes, and stories. Maybe another SAR team could call it their home, too? :)

Heather is strong and sweet

I love this book. The end is my favorite. I love a strong women that can take care of herself and this one can do that.
