Fitting Epilogue

This audiobook takes place right after the battle of Waterloo and puts a nice bow on Sharpe’s service under the Peer. I loved it!

A classic Sharpe adventure! BC does it again, always in style and with high stakes - our favorites are back.

Fantastic Narration

While the story suffers a little as it leans a little more on invention than fact, as well as a few anachronistic terms, it serves as a great coda to Waterloo, providing answers to some of the questions left.

Excellent vocal performance breathes life into the characters with inflection, and will serve the fans of the Sharpe films very well.

Great story

An excellent addition to the Sharpe library. Farley did well. I must admit I couldn't imagine what was missing from the Sharpe series, but this really filled in some gaps. The way Morris was worked in was brilliant. Now if only Mr Cornwell could arrange a flogging for Henry Simmerson all ends would be appropriately tied up.

Fascinating

I am already beginning Sharpes withdrawal…
Wish he would go on forever and take us along.

There's a reason I love Sharpe...

Or, really, a bunch of them. The characters are so well developed, and by now, familiar. But even so, Cornwell, who could rest on his laurels, doesn't get lazy. The stories in the books are really good - and this one is no exception. He never forgets that listeners - or at least this listener - actually wants to hear an engaging, well paced, STORY.... not just random, aimless character studies, ruminations on time and place, or 'beautiful writing'. This plot is excellent - picks up right where the last left off, on the morning after Waterloo, then sends Sharpe out of his usual comfort zone and into the nebulous world of Paris After Napoleon's Fall, but Before Anyone's Where, or even If, he's really gone. It's great. I've been binging on historical fiction during the pandemic, because I want to be engaged, but not always right Here and Now. This did the job so well. My only beef is that the narrator was awful with women's voices, and with Lucille in particular - made her sound like Inspector Clouseau. But, nothing is perfect. And this was awfully good. Now... I want to know What Happens Next...

Charlie was an afterthought.

Listening whenever possible. Usually while driving errands. Cornwell has good readers and makes the story very entertaining.
