Fitzwilliam Darcy already has one arranged marriage in his past. The last thing he envisions for himself is another, yet he has somehow become entrapped in a promise to a dying man. Elizabeth never expected the imperious Mr Darcy to become a good friend of an idle gentleman like her father. And she certainly never anticipated they would form a secret pact compelling her marriage to a man she dislikes. She must set aside grief and resentment, as well as her suspicions: Is Darcy using her to avoid another bride pushed onto him by his family, or to gain riches Elizabeth never knew she had?

Loved this!
Another great addition to the retelling or alternate tellings of Pride and Prejudice. It was a very original story and very different from P&P. A totally different book with the same personalities and characters we love from Jane Austen’s original.

Good Mix of Old and New
There are some unexpected twists to the story, some things that are familiar, some familiar dialogue but said by someone different.
Narrator did a good job as well.

Rather awful
I did not like the story. Nothing was explained adequately to have so much pressure on Darcy to be extremely abused by his family. They were truly evil but did not seem to pay any price for their actions. Darcy never really stood up to them which was impossible to imagine.

Entertaining story
Good book that is very interesting in parts but not quite exciting or gripping as it could be. It is an unusual twist in the Darcy/Elizabeth relationship that involves a close friendship between Darcy and Mr. Bennett.
