Fabulous book

The narrator was Amazing! The story line was so perfect. I laughed at so many parts off this book, cried, swooned. Great job and a great listen and read

Solid story

Only 4 stars because the narration made it difficult to distinguish between voices. Both male leads were played with a southern accent, even though one was born and raised in California. The cognitive dissonance it caused threw things off.

MMMM Sean Crisden!

I loved this! This is all about breaking free of expectations, explorations, self-discovery and a slow, simmering, solid path to true love. There is a LOT of sex but it is all really “moving the story forward” sex and not gratuitous.

The feelz are strong and deep and my only complaint is that we didn’t get to see more of our couple in the future… I think that would be an important piece for these two guys.

In any case, fans of the author will love this, gay virgin fans, friends to lovers and small town romance fans, as well.

MMMMMM. I love Sean Crisden’s narrations! His voice is silky smooth and so sexy! I thought his depiction of Saint and Lucky and their families was perfection! He’s so good at emotion and even “aging” his voice when needed.

Hate and Love

A twist to a small town meets fast pace fancy city.
Love has no limits. At the end it proves that blood is not the only glue that binds family ties.

Love the title!

The title is great after I found out how the title come about. I like after that.

Lucky and Saint are very different from each other but I loved their story so very much.

Lucky had to find Saint for his grandmother. Even though she didn’t ask, I loved that Saint didn’t reply to the email from Lucky he just got a car and came. He was so starved for family that he couldn’t wait. Even though his grandmother and he never knew her, their relationship is sweet and special.

I very much enjoyed Lucky's protectiveness. But the chemistry between these men is undeniable. From two different worlds, can they make it work?

I can’t wait to dive into Book 2.
The narration was perfect for these two. This is where Sean shines because it was effortless listening.

The narrator did a great job portraying characters of various ages, genders, and races sensitively, and the author wrote an intriguing and touching story I got hooked on quickly. Now I’m off to listen to the sequel!

Good story. Good narration.

The story was a sweet romance with a dash of spicy and moderate angst. The narrator has a pleasant voice, and his performance was very good. The pacing was a little slow for my taste, but would be great if you are looking for a slow and steady build up to a romance.

Stop at this book if you want an (implied) HEA

Simply put, I’d recommend this as a stand-alone, despite the sequel.

This is rich, complex, hopeful, sad and sweet.

I don’t know how to measure angst. Despite life happening, I wasn’t full of too much of actual angst while listening to this book. Sorrow, yes. It’s tempered with caring, history— and (it’s implied) learning from the past.

As for sex, it was hot, sometimes graphic, a very tiny bit of kink which made it more relatable for me (since life is seldom what we expect). It might not be what people who rate books with hot peppers would rate the highest (how many peppers is the most? Anyhow—) all of the interactions are couched in some kind of emotional context involving trust and caring. I wouldn’t call it tame, it’s refreshing and romantic.

I enjoyed the story and the ending.

I won’t spoiler more than that.

The narration was quite good; avoiding common pitfalls of voicing one of the MCs as ‘whiny’ or very breathy even when the book says they are not, for example, or doing something wildly unnatural to the voices of women or kids. Since women have large roles in the plot, it was a relief that they were voiced comfortably and in a way that fit with the main narrative voice.

Cute and positive

It’s a beautiful love story set within some family drama and revelations. At times it lacks a little depth or feels a bit unrealistic but it’s a positive story overall.
The narration brought characters to life and managed to cover for some of the more repetitive parts.
