Acerca de esta escucha

“When all else fails, the ass end of a carp makes a damn fine weapon.”

Your new favorite monster hunter has arrived! Bubba the Monster Hunter has some competition in this horror-comedy collection from best-selling author duo Gail Z. and Larry N. Martin!

By day, Mark Wojcik can be found elbow-deep in engine grease, making cars and trucks safe for the highway. By night, he can be found traipsing through the wilds of Pennsylvania, making the world safe for humans. He's more than just a mechanic, he's a New Templar Knight. He travels the backroads and byways fighting weresquonks, ningen, selkies, ghosts, and . . . gnomes? Is that gnome . . . naked? (Sigh.)

Season One collects the first four novellas in the Spells, Salt, & Steel series: Spells, Salt, & Steel; Open Season; Deep Trouble; and Close Encounters.

Engaging

It reminded me of the Supernatural show. It was funny and dark with a hint of romance. Looking forward to reading the next book

Worth a listen

This was on the Plus Catalog and named close to another series on it that I was enjoying, turns out this is nothing like the other series, But it is closes to a Dresden series I liked a lot, Not as much detail. but the action keeps moving I enjoyed it. It has good corrector creation. The story moves fast not any dreaded slow times. The Narrator does a great job.

Good Intro Anthology

As always, Roger Wayne does a fantastic job narrating. the stories are interesting and the world building, whole a bit inconsistent in a "the supernatural is hidden but not really" kind of way. Mark is an i terestinf character and I'm looking forward to getting into book two. my only real issue is the Anthology style. if you like this kind of thing then you'll rate this higher than I have. It's just not my kind of thing. but if your on the fence, I encourage you to give this a shot.

That was a fun adventure!

First let me say how glad I am that I’m not the only one that’s wondered if werewolves could have chocolate...

This was a really fun story. I may be a bit biased, however, since I’m from the Pittsburgh area and knew of a lot of places in the story. Go to google street view and search Water Street, Kecksburg and virtually cruise down the road til you see the Kecksburg Ambulance sign and look up on the hill to see the “Acorn”.

Mini road trip memories aside, the story and narration are brilliant!

This whole season was just a joy to binge and I’m hoping the next few make it to audible soon!

great narration! fun story

enjoyed this... very no nonsense and not "angst-y". with so many stories in one group I think it could have benefited from some editing where the explanations of his friends and family got a bit repetative... I wondered if there was a repeat of a story. but, I enjoyed it anyway!

Great fun; the Bubbaverse grows!

This is a pleasing, episodic collection of monster hunting and paranormal adventure, sharing a universe with Bubba the Monster Hunter. Rather than the south, however, these stories tour the lakes and forests of Northwest PA. It helps that that's my home country, but anyone who likes supernatural adventure will enjoy this book. The main character is a likeable guy of Polish stock, reminding me of countless good guys I've known here in life. Pacing is good, straightforward payoff of all setups. The stories mostly stand alone, which is a nice change sometimes, with the development of the setting and evolution of the characters serving as the larger arc, with ample set up for more to play out over future books. I truly hope the Martins continue with this series!

Roger Wayne delivers great audio, as he reliably does on all series he reads. Highly recommended!

Mark Wojcik the phenomenal supernatural fighter!

Mark Wojcik is a regular guy with a mission to eradicate the supernatural and demonic activity in Western Pennsylvania. The things that go bump in the night destroyed his life by killing his family. In these short novellas, are the stories of his adventures protecting others from the supernatural. He works for the Occulatum, a Vatican organization. With the help of his band of friends he fights the monsters others can’t along the back roads of Western Pennsylvania. These are stand alone stories with lots of action and swearing. The introductory information about his reasons for fighting and his friends are repeated for each story. If you can get past that you will find the stories enjoyable.

My first Gail Z and Larry N Martin

Usually follow Morgan Brice novels (and love them) but tried this one on a recommendation). Loved it. While it's my first it will not be my last.

Unoriginal and repetitive

In my opinion, if someone is going to try to start a new monster hunter story or series, he or she needs to have an original idea. These writers pause too much from “supernatural“ and not enough research went in to the writing. Anyone who reads fantasy or science fiction genre should know that a Kilby is a fee creature, therefore I Silverblade would do nothing to it. This monster hunter kills it with a silver coated K bar? Sloppy. Also I don’t understand the genres propensity for recapping the basics of the protagonist backstory and other information in every subsequent story. Do writers think someone’s going to start a series book 3?! We know about his tragic start in the monster hunting business, so why rehash it every book? Other than that, the rating was pretty good until the end. Spoiler alert; why why do the riders have to take a left turn at Albuquerque and now all of a sudden aliens? I don’t know seems really far-fetched like they didn’t know what else to do and I was less than impressed. I was hoping for some thing similar to Scott Lang growls books or even build a vampire. This series was underwhelming to me and I will not continue the series if any more books are published. Too many other books exist to spend more time on this. Thanks
