When sixteen-year-old Vernadine Dawn Turnipseed is asked to join the boys’ basketball team for Buford County High School in 1943, shock waves, riots and anger roll through her hometown of Spit’s Creek, Alabama with a fury. Engaging story with excellent narration
The story kept my attention and I wanted to hear more. The narrator was able to distinctly and realistically voice the many characters. I very much liked the style and pace of narration.
I look forward to more books from this author and narrator.

The horrible narrator!
The narrator Sounded like she as reading (not well.. broken words). Fake, terrible southern accident. She pronounced Mobile and Opelika wrong!
Story was great!!
