Resumen del Editor

Since the moment you saw the double pink line on your pee stick stating that you were pregnant, I’m sure people have been saying, “You’re going to breastfeed, right?” There is a lot of pressure nowadays to breastfeed, and you may feel that if you don’t breastfeed you will be classified into a group of “those feeders”. Yet you may be thinking, “I think so…. I mean, I’ll try it…but what about all the horror stories I hear? What about the women who say they had infections and sore nipples and that it was the hardest thing they’d ever done? Is it really worth all that? What if I don’t really want to? Will I be looked down upon?”

These are questions that only you can answer, but I would like to ease a little bit of that anxiety if I can. If you were anything like me as a new momma, I assumed since breastfeeding is natural, it should be this beautiful, bonding, easy thing. I have a breast, she has a mouth, what could possibly go wrong? I was blindsided. Everything that could go wrong went wrong.

Breasts are sensitive, miracle-giving, superpower love jugs. I’m talking magnificent slayer-of-viruses-and-diseases and make-a-baby-grow creations. How awesome is that!

Ultimately, breastfeeding is a mother’s choice. You have to do what is best for you and your baby, but also what is going to make you a better mother in the long run. If this is your first time breastfeeding, I am sure you have a lot of questions and concerns. Breastfeeding is hard. Parenting is hard. Being a woman is hard.

I have always made it my goal as an IBCLC to meet moms where they are and help them meet the goals they desire. It has nothing to do with me or my beliefs; it has everything to do with you as a mother and your baby.

Mom guilt is real, you guys.

My philosophy has always been this:

Number 1: You feed your baby in any way that works.

Number 2: You do what is going to make you the best mom for your baby. That is what is most important.

You officially made it through pregnancy and birth and have entered into the overwhelming life that is parenting. Most likely you have attended many classes, read books, listened to podcasts, and of course googled everything in preparation for this moment. You survived the birth…. The rest should be easy, right? Right?! Take a breath, Momma, we are just getting started. We are going to cover all things breastfeeding, tongue ties, low supply, sore nipples, and everything in between. Allow me to be your Google. Allow this book to be your guide. I am your personal Booby Fairy. I’ve got you, girl!
