When Ryne Burdette inherits his family's old hunting cabin deep in the Yukon wilderness, he wants to say no. Haunting slow burn

This one is a sloooow burn, which I love! I will admit, at first I struggled a bit because it wasn’t my usual vibe. But I knew the recommendation was legit, so I persisted and I was rewarded. It gets wild!! This novel is suspenseful, claustrophobic, creepy, dark, emotionally raw, phantasmagoric. This will haunt you in the best way after you’ve finish and is a definite must read.

Awesome Folk horror

The narrator is fantastic. Great indigenous/folk horror. I really enjoyed this one and it makes me look forward to whatever the author puts out next.

A Twist on the Cabin in the Woods trope

I enjoyed this book so much! I could barely put it down. It has the right amount of horror, the occult, and folklore. It's also full of mystery yet doesn't fully explain the cause of events until the very end, leaving a veil of mystery still lingering after the story has been completed. Great read!

Excellent Horror Story!

Very real, although obviously not (at least I hope not!!). Good and creepy-creepy. I thought the narrator was perfect for this piece. The hypnotic sound of his voice serves to draw you deeper and deeper into the whole horrible mess. And great job with the sound effects! Overall, this story was quite good, very well thought out. I think this writer has a great deal of potential….☺️

Enjoyed it

Reading the reviews, I wasn't sure if this would be worth the listen but I enjoyed this book. Could some things have been better, of course they could but for me this didn't keep me from wanting to know what happened next. I agree that the narrator was a bit over enthusiastic sometimes. It would be interesting to see/hear a different narrators take on the story or even a rewrite to expand the story in a few places. Overall, I am glad I purchased it.

Buy it nowwwwww!!!

So scary and listening to it will make u scared in broad daylight! Every chapter following the first half hour are bone chilling and kept me on edge all day. I hope I can find a book like this because now my expectations have been raised lol

Good for a cold winter night

I listened to this now during the summer while planting out my garden but I’ll definitely be picking up a copy of it to read again during the winter. Perfect story to read on a cold snowy winter night with cups of hot tea and the wood stove going.

The story and character development was simplistic—just ok. What I really enjoyed though was the sophisticated, well read manner in which the author described scenery.
