Resumen del Editor

The US Speaker of the House is assassinated in a terrifyingly precise execution in the heart of Washington, DC. In a quieter corner of the nation's capital, the rare book room of the Library of Congress, a reclusive, wealthy scholar drops dead under mysterious circumstances that leave no clues. Following on the heels of the natural death of the Speaker of the House, the city and the nation begin to tremble. In California, a beautiful but capable woman is planning and executing one of the most brilliant cons on record.

All the while, "Oliver Stone" and his quirky Camel Club stand by and observe as the genius of their collective perspective begins to connect the dots between these seemingly disparate events - and they realize they must act, and act quickly, before their country falls victim to a silent yet bloody coup.

Superb narration

The book is very exciting and the narrators are extremely good. Listening to this audio book is similar to listening to a very thrilling radio play!

Interesting narration

Those of you that are old enough to remember Old time radio classics like the "Shadow" or "Have gun, will travel", should be familiar with this type of narration. The director here wanted to give this narration a play-like feel. I didn't have a problem with it, but rather enjoyed it. The bottom line is that the "purists" will always want to stick to the norm, but wait,... aren't audiobooks sacrilegious?
Don't cheat yourself from yet another great book by David Baldacci. This book is filled with drama, surprise, twists, and a promising ending.

The Collectors

These comments reference the entire series of The Camel Club, at this writing consisting of five novels. Audiobooks, unabridged, all released by Hachette Audio from 2005 through 2017, lengths from ten to sixteen hours. All novels are narrated by Ron McLarty with the exception of Book 1, narrated by LJ Ganser. Typical Baldacci audiobooks, lots of music, sound effects, solid productions. Although there are no audio issues of note, the McLarty renditions are a cut above. Hell’s Corner narration includes Orlagh Cassidy reading the female voices - a nice touch. No trouble discerning who-says-what-to-who in any book.

Oliver Stone is a great character, a bit quirky, but a stand-up fellow who takes patriotism seriously. Oliver and his small band of close friends find themselves in defense of our country, themselves, and the right side of justice … you’ll enjoy rooting for the gang.

No gratuitous sex scenes, no objectionable language - clean reads.

Super adventures. Enjoy!

Good second in the series

While not as good as the first book in the series, this is still a really good story told well.

Loved the narration

I loved the narration of multiple characters, it makes it much easier to put a visual image to the character. All in all, I thought the book with multiple plots was fantastic. Always kept me guessing who the murderer was.

Weaves a great story

The first book had a slow start, but soon caught my attention. The second quickly captured me as it began weaving the story and I anticipated on how the pieces of the story would weave together and bring it all together.

The introduction of new characters brings both intrigue and mystery to the story line. Expertly brings to life each character and leaves you wondering what will come next. Can't wait to read book three and the continuing adventures of the Camel Club. It just keeps getting better.

Good, not great

This was a good book. It was not a great book. A lot of characters that were introduced very quickly . Considering the importance of these characters to the narrative, character development seemed to be lacking. Occasionally it was difficult to follow who was doing what to whom. This may not have been as big of a problem in the printed work . The dialogue was sometimes banal and unimaginative. Nevertheless, it was entertaining and I was never tempted to send it back. What was somewhat different and refreshing was the way the reading was done. Then have one Narrative tried to emulate all of the voices including ones of the opposite sex, which usually falls very short, This one had a cast of characters doing the various voices. At first it was a little disconcerting to have the narrator charge from an actual male voice to a female voice, but ultimately, I thought it was well done. If it sounds like the storyline summary would appeal to you, it is definitely worth a listen.

Better read than listened to!

I thought the book was good. It fit in well with the rest of the Oliver Stone Series. However, i did not like the way it was narrated. It is my opinion that the narrator sucked. The same person that did Divine justice should have done this one.
