Narrator Biography

Timothy West is prolific in film, television, theatre, and audiobooks. He has narrated a number of Anthony Trollope's classic audiobooks, including the six Chronicles of Barsetshire and the Palliser series. He has also narrated volumes of Simon Schama's A History of Britain and John Mortimer's Rumpole on Trial.

West's theatre roles include King Lear, The Vote, Uncle Vanya, A Number, Quarter, and Coriolanus and his films include Ever After, Joan Of Arc, Endgame, Iris and The Day of the Jackal. On television, Timothy has held the regular role of Stan Carter on EastEnders (BBC), as well as appearing in Broken Biscuits (BBC), three series of Great Canal Journeys, Last Tango in Halifax; Bleak House, Bedtime and Brass.

Good Trollope but unlikable characters

Timothy West was fantastic as always. His performance is superb in bringing Trollope's characters to life.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I found it less gripping than other Trollope novels as the characters were so thoroughly dislikable. I had no compassion for them. BUT having said that, it is a good story overall

Heck yes Anthony Trollope!!!

Another great listen in The Palliser Series! I could not decide whether I loved or hated the heroine, Lizzie Eustace. She was absolutely hilarious while at the same time being, as one character remarked, "The limb of the devil"! I'm always amazed by Trollope's ability to convey the inner workings of his characters' hearts and minds. I continue to marvel at the unsurpassed skill of the Timothy West in bringing Trollope's world to life. When it comes to narrators he is undoubtedly the best of the best!!!

Narrated beautifully, a splendid, complicated story about a selfish, scheming woman and her comeuppance. loved it.

A treat!. And West is the perfect Trollope reader.

Wonderful Trollope story. And Timothy West's ability to interpret all the characters and convey all the emotional nuances, humor and occasional snarkiness is spellbinding.

The story is full of memorable and well-drawn characters. Trollop is on a par, if not surpassing, Dickens. Timothy West as the narrator is unparalleled.

Becky Sharpe in Trollope-Land

Lizzie Eustace, of the Eustace Diamonds, and Becky Sharpe, of Vanity Fair, make the most delicious anti-heroines. Both take on a world in which their only power is their beauty, wits, and willingness to mold the truth to their benefit.

While it works as a standalone, The Eustace Diamonds is the perfect bridge between Phineas Finn and Phineas Redux. Part mystery, part social commentary, all thoroughly enjoyable!

Great Fun

What a fantastic listen! Lizzie Eustace is a woman that you learn to hate and also to love. All the characters of this novel are well drawn and delightful.
We listened to this while driving across the country (Canada). It made the trip fly by!

Classic Trollope

Another great yarn by Trollope. And Anthony West is again the perfect narrator. If you like Trollope, you'll enjoy this.

I am an Anthony Trollope enthusiast, and this is my first time to read The Eustace Diamonds. It is third in the Pallisers series but is definitely a stand-alone book--a character study of one very determined but unscrupulous widow and of the people in her world. Timothy West as narrator is definitely Anthony Trollope as narrator. The humor comes through superbly! Wonderful story, wonderful audiobook!
