Critical reading for anyone in philanthropy

We truly are in a generosity crisis and need to revolutionize philanthropy for most charities to stay relevant and grow. This book is inspirational in making the case for prioritizing authentic relationships (radical connections) over transactions

Great read on dwindling generosity

The challenges facing the decline in trust in nonprofits, engagement with those organizations, and as a result, giving to what were once (and in some cases still are) institutions has negative societal repercussions far beyond the economic impact of the US nonprofit sector.
This artfully well crafted story of points to the reasons generosity as this nation has known it for years is declining. Michael, Nathan, and Brian highlight the painfully transactional nature that many givers feel whose gifts or net worth are not big enough for organizations to spend personal time building relationships. If you’re not a “major donor”, and even if you are, the most common form of communication is an ask for money. This compounded with for-profits more targeted communication strategies, the age of CSR, and nonprofit watchdogs fixated more on overhead than outcomes has created a crisis. They posture that the solution is radical connection; not entirely new the first step is to understand money follows a relationship. Christian Titus does a great job of making this an easy listen. Strongly recommend for any in the nonprofit fundraising space.

A deep dive into a scary crisis AND the solution!

I will admit the more I read of the book, the more I thought about how scary the world is becoming. The seeming lack of personal connections and the increase in alarming statistics but through great storytelling and a clear and direct solution, the authors cleared the path for action and change.

I can truly say that the more people who read this book and follow it with action, the better this world will be for everyone.
