Acerca de esta escucha
There’s a strong biblical connection between people and trees. They both come from dirt. They’re both told to bear fruit. In fact, arboreal language is so often applied to humans that it’s easy to miss, whether we're talking about family trees, passing along our seed, cutting someone off like a branch, being rooted to a place, or bearing the fruit of the Spirit. It’s hard to deny that trees mean something, theologically speaking.
This book is in many ways a memoir, but it’s also an attempt to wake up the listener to the glory of God shining through his creation. One of the first commands to Adam and Eve was to “work and keep” the garden. Award-winning author and songwriter Andrew Peterson, being as honest as possible, shares a story of childhood, grief, redemption, and peace by walking through a forest of memories: “I trust that by telling my story, you’ll encounter yours. Hopefully, like me, you’ll see that the God of the Garden is and has always been present, working and keeping what he loves.” Sometimes he plants, sometimes he prunes, but in his goodness he intends to reap a harvest of righteousness.

While there are many books about writing, none deal firsthand with the intersection of songwriting, storytelling, and vocation, along with nuts-and-bolts exploration of the great mystery of creativity. In Adorning the Dark, Andrew describes six principles for the writing life: serving the work, serving the audience, selectivity, discernment, discipline, and community. Through stories from his own journey, Andrew shows how these principles are not merely helpful for writers and artists but for anyone interested in imitating the way the Creator interacts with his creation.

How do Christians grow? Few question the call of the Bible to grow in godliness, but the answer to exactly how this happens is often elusive. In this audiobook, Dane Ortlund points believers to Christ, making the case that sanctification does not happen by doing more or becoming better, but by going deeper into the wondrous gospel truths that washed over them when they were first united to him.

Striving for beauty, art also reveals what is broken. It presents us with the tremendous struggles and longings common to the human experience. And it says a lot about our Creator too. Great works of art can speak to the soul in a unique way. Rembrandt Is in the Wind is an invitation to discover some of the world's most celebrated artists and works and how each of them illuminates something about God, people, and the purpose of life. Part art history, part biblical study, part philosophy, and part analysis of the human experience, this book is nonetheless all story.

We live in a cultural moment where the definition of “woman” eludes the keenest of thinkers and brightest of scientists, where one’s biological sex and one’s gender are divorced, where the meaning of gender itself is a constantly moving target, and where girls and women, especially, struggle to know who they are. Where societal confusion has naturally ensued from this state of affairs, and Christians especially wonder how to think and respond to it, Katie J. McCoy offers a clear and helpful guide in her debut book, To Be a Woman.

Fear is one of the strongest human emotions — and one that often baffles Christians. In the Bible the picture can seem equally confusing: Is fear a good thing or a bad thing? And what does it mean to “fear the Lord”? In this audiobook, Michael Reeves clears the clouds of confusion and shows that the fear of the Lord is not a negative thing at all, but an intensely delighted wondering at God, our creator and redeemer.

Modern culture is increasingly outspoken against a biblical understanding of what it means to be a woman. Even some Christians, swayed by the LGBTQ+ movement, have rejected God’s word on issues of sexuality and gender in favor of popular opinion. In light of these pressures, it’s more important than ever to help women see the truth about who God created them to be. In this powerful book, Rosaria Butterfield uses Scripture to confront 5 common lies about sexuality, faith, feminism, gender roles, and modesty often promoted in our secular culture today.

In Van Gogh Has a Broken Heart, Russ Ramsey digs into these artists' stories for readers who may be new to art, as well as for lifelong students of art history, to mine the transcendent beauty and hard lessons we can take from their masterpieces and their lives. Each story from some of the history's most celebrated artists applies the beauty of the gospel in a way that speaks to the suffering and hope we all face.

Tree-Mendously Good
Andrew Peterson’s music has long been a huge part of my life and spiritual journey. It never fails to lift my heart to God. This book is no different. Beautiful, vulnerable, and sacred journey to find the love of Jesus. Hope you take the time to read it. It was my best Christmas gift this year.

Perfect
This is a beautiful picture into the soul of a sojourner. Andrew Peterson reading this makes it even better. It has spoken to me in a season that I desperately needed it. The words he speaks about the way he has discovered and continues discovering the love of God have ministered to me in a special way. I am thankful.

Must Read!!!
This book has brought so much connection and excitement for something I already enjoyed, trees! But most of all to connect with the author in so many areas of life, in brokenness, and finding that common ground that we have in Christ, our Hope and Redeemer. Praise the Lord for such a wonderful testimony.

Read it, or listen to it!
I love Andrew’s heart behind anything he writes. He’s honest and frank, but thoughtful. I listened to his book 6 months after I visited Ireland for the first time, and the book unexpectedly brought language to how I felt about the place. God gives people hearts for his creation, and to hear others talk about their love of creation and in return glorify God, does a soul good. I listened to the book instead of reading it, because Andrew was the reader in the audio book, and his voice has become familiar over the years and is a comfort.

I like trees too.
I feel God's love in all the world around me too. This book is a inspiring account of healing, through the goodness of God's creations especially trees and gardens. I'm often surprised by the gentleness of God's encounters with His children. This is a gentle account. God's gentleness enables our own free will to believe, trust, and diligently seek Him.

Earnest, relatable, and provoking
This has become a heart book for me. Andrew Peterson shares vulnerably of his inner wrestlings in a deeply relatable way. He connects his loving appreciation and meditations of nature to it all and back to the most loving Savior who has held him, even when he could not feel it. This was my second or third listen, and it will not be my final time.

A blessing from the Lord while on a journey of my own.
I had the chance to listen to this book upon the recommendation of a dear friend and pastor of mine, Ken Leggit. For a few days, the author’s gentle words nourished me as I walked 100 km or so of the 700+ I had embarked on while walking the Camino Santiago as a pilgrim. I felt a deep connection to the Earth which I traversed as I walked in the shade of the trees, standing sentinels along the foot paths offering protection for pilgrims on the hottest days or from the frigid bone chilling winds of winter.
The author beautifully captures the majesty of God, especially amidst the beautiful trees He has graciously given us. I hope one day to plant trees of my own and give them names. Calling them each by name just as Christ calls our names as brothers and sisters.
Thank you for creating something beautiful, dear author, it has blessed me.

Life changing book
I love the author’s perspective on the world. It makes me feel like I’m not the only one who appreciates creation the way that I do. We can learn so much about garden while we are in his garden, and this book reminded me that there’s an even better one coming in eternity. The days that I will spend gardening with Jesus can’t come soon enough. Thank you for putting into words what was only in my heart.
I am in school for landscape architecture, and it is all too easy to get caught up in that developer’s mindset, but I will now approach design with a gentle hand and a spirit of reverence for what is Jesus’ and what he has given us to share.
God bless
