Resumen del Editor

Three brothers, Don, Bill, and Rusty Halliway are used to being right in the middle of adventures and mysteries. They normally spend their summers helping out with their family business: shuttling passengers, fisherman, and cargo on “The Janice Kay” around Lake of the Woods in northern Minnesota. But the boys have an uncanny ability to get themselves wrapped up in one adventure after another. If a situation arises, the three boys somehow end up in the middle of it. While this does become trying for their parents, it does prevent life from becoming monotonous. When invited to join a safari in Africa, the boys learn that the safari may have a different agenda than what they had been told. With adventure around every corner, the Halliway boys are tested to their limit as they enter the Dark Continent in search for a secret catch. Mr. Barstow was alone in the living room of the luxurious motel suite when Eddie and Don knocked on the door. The newspaper was on the coffee table, turned to the column they had read just a few minutes before. "Don't tell me why you fellows are here," Mr. Barstow said amiably. "Let me guess." He picked up the newspaper and held it out. "You saw this, didn't you?" Don nodded. "I've got to know what this is all about before we leave the States," he said firmly. "And if you don't?" "Then we don't go." Frank Barstow studied him. "I could get someone else who wouldn't ask any questions," he said. "I'm well aware of that." Barstow sat down across from them, reluctantly. "I don't like the idea of going into this with anyone," he said, "but you don't leave me much choice." He paused. "I can depend on you not to say anything to anyone about, this, can't I?" he asked. "Except of course, to my son and daughter and the rest of your party?" "If it's legal and honest, we won't say anything to anyone about it." "It's legal and it's honest," Mr. Barstow retorted. "If it weren't, I wouldn't have anything to do with it." He folded the paper into a roll and tapped it against his palm. "Perhaps all this secrecy is foolishness," he said, "but we heard rumors of something when we were in Congo before. It has been keeping me awake nights ever since." Don's eyes glowed with excitement.
