Acerca de esta escucha
Welcome to the final book of the Three H's Trilogy: The Hell!
Susie and Mac are ghost hunters. They investigate and exorcise haunted houses for a living.
A client hires Susie and Mac to investigate a house in Lexington, SC. Although they are experienced in handling malignant spirits and haunted territories, the client promises that this place is unlike any the ghost hunters have exorcised before.
Susie and Mac never back down from a challenge, or from a job. They'll make their way to the house, and encounter the hell that's waiting for them.
Whether they can survive or not is a different question.
Gregory Alex Bailey built his perfect house of horrors in the 1950s, continuing the family tradition of sacrifice and murder. Within that house, he was certain that he could succeed where former ancestors had failed, and secure a place for them in the land of the living.
Lucas didn't want to continue his father's legacy.
Out of love for his son, Gregory killed him.
Lucas gained his second chance through his resurrection, when the loyal and devoted Janice made the ultimate sacrifice for him. Lucas' new life gave him an appreciation for his father, who had long disappeared by the time Lucas came back.
Desperate to see his father again, Lucas did all he could to maintain the house, while training his children in the family tradition.
Like the father before them, the children rebelled. Lucas understood. As he had rebelled, so did his father, and his grandfather before him. But sooner or later, every Bailey accepted their fate.
Eventually, they would all share....

Historia
Two little girls stand with their heads bowed in my living room. I’m told they’re my granddaughters. Daisy is nine, and Alice seven. Daisy is the spitting image of her mother. This is the first time I’ve met them since my daughter and I fell out after she married that waste of space, Vince. They’ve come to live with me because their mother — my daughter — was murdered. In her own home while they slept close by. I think Vince killed her. But the police can’t prove it. I’ve always known he was no good. He treated my daughter like dirt. I said he’d cheat on her — but she wouldn’t listen.

Who is Audrey Hoedemaker? It's a question her sister Maureen has heard more times than she can count, and she doesn't know what the short answer would be. Little sister, troubled teen, backpacker, musical theatre coach, con artist, childcare worker. Murderer. A tragic, traumatic childhood casts a long shadow on the Hoedemaker sisters. Maureen has worked hard to move beyond the violence of the past and build a good, honest life for herself. Audrey, however, just can't seem to do the same, careening from one state of chaos to another.

The Hell House Bailey Built
This is the last book in series of horror with humor. Really enjoyed the new character of Susie the ghost hunter and there are many in the book especially evil ones like Gregory Bailey. It has gore and violence and is a quick listen. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you!

The end has come
Wrapping up Brian Barr's 3 H's Trilogy, 'The Hell' ties together 'The Head' and 'The House', and brings it all crashing to an over the top, cosmically weird and gory conclusion. Despite wrapping up the plot and bringing it all together, I found I enjoyed Books 1 and 2 more. This isn't to say that 'The Hell' is bad, it's just that had more ups and downs. For example, I enjoyed Lucas's backstory and learning more about the history of the house. But I found Susie's plot to be odd and a bit of a let down.
Overall, Barr does a good job of bringing it all together and cranking the weird up to 11,while Rick Gregory does a decent job narrating.

Great conclusion
Wonderfully gory and beautifully evil... that's how I'd describe this book. I'm impressed with the narrator's ability to tell the story without gagging! As the conclusion to a trilogy, The Hell ended it all in a surprising turn of events. I'd totally recommend to fans of extreme horror.

unexpected (but good) ending to the series
This final installment is quite a bit more serious! Book 1 had some humor and even a touch of romance to it. Book 2 showed us how twisted that romance was but still had some quips and sarcasm here and there. This book is quite a bit darker. We take a walk through the Bailey family tree as we meet Gregory, the grandfather, and he reigns down a type of hell on the occupants of the house. Never fear though! The ladies have been coming up with an escape plan…. of sorts.
So eventually we get to meet the paranormal investigators Susie and Mac. They’ve been doing this for some time and both are sensitive to the paranormal. Susie receives a desperate plea from a client to take out the Bailey house. Alas, arson is not in Susie’s skill set and pretty much goes against her morals.
But then we meet Mac’s new friend. That’s a game changer for Susie! This story was full of unexpected twists and I was delighted with each one. The ending winds up and up to a fever pitch as evil throws punches at good and good-ish kicks back. Not everyone gets what they want by the end (and that’s great for us rooting for Susie and booing Gregory) but things end on a rather positive note. I wasn’t expecting that but it was nonetheless quite suitable for this trilogy. 5/5 stars.
I received a free copy of this book.
The Narration: Rick Gregory has done a good job narrating this series but I found this book narration could have used just a little polishing. There’s a few mispronounced words and sometimes the pacing is just a little off. Over all though, it’s a good performance. I can tell that Gregory is fully engaged in the story (perhaps because the Big Baddie is named Gregory?). He had distinct voices for all the characters and his female voices were feminine. 4/5 stars.

Interesting End for this trilogy
Would you try another book from Brian Barr and/or Rick Gregory?
Yeah. Mr. Barr's stories are interesting and generally hold my attention. This book was very confusing for the first half as it was introducing characters and events that were not explained very well. Once the second half kicked in and the characters from the previous books were reintroduced to the story, it got better. It did have a good ending, but getting there was a bit of a chore. The first two books were much more direct and to the point.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
It was creative and it's description of the House and the caverns made it feel very much like they had created a hell on earth.
Which character – as performed by Rick Gregory – was your favorite?
Bill, the head. He was funny and interesting, but menacing at the same time.
Do you think The Hell needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
It apparently does in comic book form. It would be interesting to read about the further adventures of the three sisters.
Any additional comments?

Horror ghost story!
The Hell
The 3 H's, Book 3
By: Brian Barr
Narrated by: Rick Gregory
This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
This is the third book in the series and it didn't effect the story by me not reading the first two. I like good ghost stories but this goes beyond a regular ghost story to a horror ghost story! It was a good horror story! It was about two ghost hunters at a house with a very messed up family history! Wow! Didn't expect some of these things.
The narrator was great! Really added suspense, terror, and the extra needed at the right time. Great job!

Conclusion to the House in Lexington
This is the third and final installment of the 3 H’s by Brian Barr. We finally know the past of the House in Lexington, and the origin of the family living there. On this occasion Suzie and Mac, two ghost hunters are contacted by a client to investigate and exorcise the house. Things will not be easy for the ghost hunters.
The first book in the series was the most trivial one, the second was gruesome, and this one was terrifying. It was interesting to know the origin of the house and the family, and find an explanation for strange phenomena occurring there. I found it entertaining and I enjoyed the two ghost hunters and the dangers they met. There are numerous flashbacks in this one, and I needed to pay special attention to avoid getting lost and recognize when the action was occurring.
Rick Gregory’s narration was mostly correct, but I noticed several audio edits, which were a bit distracting. The characters are well portrayed, and in general it was an enjoyable narration.
I received a copy of this book in audio format from the narrator in exchange for an honest review.

Great Trilogy
The Hell was a great end to The 3 H's trilogy. The series starts out a bit funny and gruesome but gets less funny and more gruesome with each book. The Hell was the most gruesome, telling the history of the family and the house. The ending was an interesting twist! I enjoyed the narration by Rick Gregory!
