Resumen del Editor

In this steamy tale by USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn, an American searching for her purpose escapes to a Scottish town but finds more questions than answers when she meets a brooding yet handsome handyman.

Freshly fired from her third job in a row, Bonnie St. James has lost her way. So when she and her best friend stumble upon a “help wanted” post to run a coffee shop in the Scottish Highlands, they apply on a whim. Who knows? Maybe traveling to a new place is just what she needs to figure out her next move.

When the friends arrive in the tiny idyllic town of Corsekelly, they instantly fall for the gorgeous Highland landscape and friendly townspeople. But Bonnie finds a less-than-warm welcome in Rowan MacGregor, the rugged local handyman. Busy wrestling his own demons, Rowan’s in no mood to deal with the quirky American - even if she is a bonny lass.

As Bonnie and Rowan’s paths inevitably cross, insults - and sparks - fly. Can the pair build on their similarities to help each other find purpose and direction...and maybe romance too? Or will their passionate tempers fling them apart?

The male narrator is unbearable

The story is good and the female narrator does a good job. The male narrator on the other hand is awful. He sounds far too old for this character and his female voice made the main character sound childish.

It’s an OK book..

The book is not gonna fire your socks off or anything. I love the character development but I’m not really happy on the resolutions of a lot of them problems in story. Overall the book is funny, interesting and I would recommend if you want anything short and light to read.

Great story, but should’ve read with my eyes and not ears

The story was great!! The female voice was great for the female roles and ok for the male roles. The male voice was great for the male voices, but was horrible for the female roles. It made the female role seem childish and not so smart.

WHO DOESN’T LOVE A HOT SCOTSMAN?!

WHO DOESN’T LOVE A HOT SCOTSMAN?!

Imagine taking a 6 month trip to Scotland with your best friend. That's exactly what Bonnie and Dakota did. The only catch is they will be working for an older couple who are taking an extended vacation and need someone to run their coffee shop. Bonnie’s best friend, Dakota found this deal and the two knew they needed a reset button on their lives.

Leaving behind their busy lives in Los Angeles to live in a small quiet town in Scotland was a culture shock especially for Bonnie. The charm of the town and where they were staying was a little much for Bonnie especially when she saw a toilet bucket.

Bonnie's lack of purpose and wanting to find her passion made uprooting her life in America an easy decision. On the other hand, Dakota needed time away after a bad breakup with her girlfriend. So, the appeal of Scotland was calling to them.

SCOTLAND, WATCH OUT HERE COMES TWO SINGLE LADIES!

Rowen is the son of the elderly couple who is taking a 6-month vacation. Unknowingly, to him, there will be two women running the coffee shop while his parents are traveling. His first time meeting Bonnie was when she was coming out of the shower in a towel and he was in the kitchen. It was a surprise to both of them. Their little meet cute had Bonnie threatening him with a broom.

Rowen is put off by these American women and their ways. On the first day of running the shop, they are late on opening it, and, at one point, Bonnie messes in a well trying to get water but instead disturbs a colony of bats. These incidents make Rowen feel like he has to babysit them so they don’t ruin his parent’s business. The ignorant American stereotype is strong at certain times with Bonnie.

Not until Bonnie ends up being the third wheel on Dakota’s date does Rowen start to soften towards her. He recognizes his friend and Dakota are trying to have some alone time and that’s when he convinces Bonnie to join him so Dakota and her date can be alone.

After Rowen hangs out with Bonnie while Dakota is on her date that starts the turning point for these two who were more enemies than friends. Even though, they are able to get along and work towards a common purpose of rejuvenating the coffee shop they still have hardships ahead of them. There are moments that challenge their relationship.

Bonnie finding her passion in redoing the coffee shop for when tourists visit was like bringing joy into Bonnie's life. Once that happened Bonnie's zest for life beings to fill the pages.

Terrific story!

I'm not crying. You're crying. This started out a little slow and slightly annoying, but I think that had more to do with the narration than the story itself. For the first few chapters, the female lead was read like a petulant little child by the female narrator and the male narrator read any female roles like they were all fairy godmothers or something. You have to get past the annoyance - and the British pronunciations used by American characters.

After that... it's golden because the story was fantastic and while it's a terrific romance, it also touched on some really emotional events - such as the true reason Rowan's parents went on hollibags. It's a wonderful story with the happy ending all romances have filled with fun characters.

I've already picked up a couple other audio books by this author, but secretly hope we'll return to Scotland for a book about the twins!

laugh out loud funny ..

Well written storyline. The characters had me laughing out loud at the beginning with the quirky saying and outbursts.
This style of writing took a bit to get use to ...
Bonnie, one of the main characters was really hard to like with her immature behavior (yes, I know it's fiction and she's 24 years old( and annoying attitutudes.

I stuck with the storyline and actually enjoyed it, overall.
The beginning was the funniest, the middle was OK and the end tied up the two Americans in Scotland.
Narration was very well done.
Easy, funny story to past the time.
Will probably listen to another book from this author.

Loved it!

It took me a bit to get into this book, but once I did, boy did it take off! I think I was just busy so don’t let that discourage you. Best friends always have the most interesting and amazing trips together. Bonnie and Dakota have that adventure. The main characters sometimes get annoying but it’s part of the charm of the book. I was sad it ended so soon but it’s a book I have a feeling I’ll listen to over and over again.

I love this story!!

Parts made me laugh so hard that I couldn't catch my breath. Just know you will never look at a power washer again without giggling... Parts were sad, but not so sad that I sobbed I controllably.
The ending is bittersweet but satisfying.

The narration was superb! Paula Nederhorst was hysterical in her delivery. Antony Ferguson was a good pairing.

Cute story, bad narration

The narrator is annoying, could only listen to a few chapters before I had to set this aside.
