A Profane Philosopher Dog!
I don't know how to describe this novel. It was continually unexpected. What started as curious and comic (that dog!) became quite dark and, for me, difficult at times to read. It's about a man and his dog. It's a love story, in all love's forms. One could argue that it's an apocalyptic fairy tale, or a philosophical treatise on what it means to be human. It's all these things and more. I enjoyed and will remember it.

Vulgar but perfect
I usually shy away from books that have a lot of profanity. Call me a prude, its cool. I felt like it fits the character however in this case. and the narration for the dog was brilliant.

A brilliant story
the story had a few frustrating dramatic turns which all came around very well. The underlying message was pretty clear and truly helps to open your eyes and hearts. Warning it has ALOT of colorful language.

How'd Walker do that?
Almost gave up on it because of the crude language, but got to the inciting incident and was hooked. Published in '19 but SO for these pandemic times! Fantastic storytelling and character development. There were times my personal thoughts/feelings about the pandemic were captured by the characters.
Do NOT mix this up with the YA same title, different author. I thought this was that one and was previewing it to read to my middle schoolers--NOT for young ears.
The only reason I took off one star was because at times I had difficulty understanding the narrator's accent for Lineker. If I could have only removed a half, I would have.

Love the dog stories!
Wow! Was not so keen on the story at first... then it picked up and I was anxious to get back to it.
