A heart warming tribute to the struggle for freedom.
This book is written in very non judgmental way about the struggles of a family who are forced to confront the graphic truth about Nazism and their traumatic escape from Europe. It outlines the many wonderful acts of kindness shown them by complete strangers and the selfishness of others. But the disturbing undercurrent of the book is how could so any people passively let the Nazism spread throughout Europe. In the end it is a simple story of family, sacrifice, love and friendship. A beautiful story about survival.
