Reseñas de la Crítica

"This is a wonderful collection, so well done, I m continually amazed at how well BJ does the voices and the production is of the highest quality. The jeeves episodes are my favorites of all time, they make me laugh each time I listen to them time, which I do often. I can't recommend this collection and his work in general enough!" - Anthony G. "I have loved reading PG Wodehouse since I was a teen, and have never ever heard anyone interpret the zany hijinks and subtle sarcasm as well as BJ Harrison. There are nights I would try to fall asleep to his wonderful voice but the funny would keep me awake :) If you love the stories of Wodehouse, you will love how BJ brings them to life." - Dee "B. J. does a great job with all of the Wodehousian characters, male and female. I don't know how he does it, even mixing British and American accents when appropriate. Very entertaining and recommended to all of P. G.'s fans (which should be everbody who cares about great writing.)" - Grampaul

Fine introduction to P. G. Wodehouse

I see that some reviewers aren't too thrilled with B. J. Harrison's narration on the Jeeves stories, but I personally found it engaging, nicely capturing the charm and humor of the stories. Occasionally he makes Jeeves sound a bit robotic perhaps, but overall I thoroughly enjoyed Harrison's rendition.

The "collection" seems quite random, with a smattering of Jeeves stories interlaced with other short stories and one novelette, and capped by the full-length novel, "Right Ho, Jeeves."

At the price, a great value for many hours of fun listening. British humor at its very best.

B.J. Harrison has ruine me for any other narrator!

Where does The P.G. Wodehouse Collection rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I'm rating this collection high up among many I've enjoyed.

What did you like best about this story?
I love the wit and the brilliant delivery by the narrator.

Which scene was your favorite?
No one scene.

Any additional comments?
As I stated in my review, BJ Harrison has ruined me for any other when it comes to P.G. Woodhouse. Nobody does it better. Sadly he's only undertaken two thus far. I hope there will be more.

Great Narrator!

I always found P.G. Wodehouse hard to get through because the writing was old fashioned and hard to visualize. But B.J. Harrison brought it to life! Such a wonderful narrator!

Great presentation of a master author

In his own whimsical universe’s parlance, Wodehouse “stands alone.”Harrison’s presentation of this master of finely-pressed mischief is excellent.

An oldie but goodie.

I read Wodehouse books 50 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed the gentle humor. They stand the test of time. Still gentle, still humorous.

Better than Jonathan Cecil

Yes, I dare to say that, and I adored Mr. Cecil's rendering of Wodehouse, until I tried BJ Harrison. SO glad I did! Now I deliberately seek Mr. Harrison's narrations of Wodehouse. His pacing is, IMO, much better, not so rapid that the characters often sound spastic. Mr. Harrison gives a unique voice to every character and they all sound like real people, not caricatures, and he does women better than most of the countless male narrators I have listened to, and is equal with the best of them. He also puts his entire soul into the performance, or so it seems to me. Wodehouse comes to life! There are many American characters in these delightful, brilliant, wonderful, hysterically funny stories, and Mr. Harrison plays them to perfection while doing a great job with the contrasting British accent. I'm American, and I don't slam audio books based on how absolutely perfectly a British narrator does American accents.

I will listen to this Audio book every now and then for the rest of my life. I LOVE everything about it. Please Mr. Harrison, keep narrating!

I like Bertie Wooster

When he's being chased by Gussie

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

NO, It's 16 hours long, but it does make the listening go by very fast.

P.G. Wodehouse is B.J. Harrison's best work, you can tell he really likes to narrate this author.

Great Anthology But ...

I had never read a great deal of P.G. Wodehouse, but so many of my literate friends love him. I was hesitant about this anthology, because one or two of the reviews said the narrator slurred words and wasn't clear. But I wanted an anthology of writings, so I could get a sense of the range of the author. First, the narrator is absolutely terrific, very clear and a wonderful actor with so many voices and accents. He brings the characters to life. I think the issue with the narrator is British terms that may not be familiar to American readers. And P. G. Wodehouse has an impeccable command of English. These stories are so wonderfully written, they are a delight. They do make you laugh out loud. I now understand why people love P.G. Wodehouse. However, I just find Bertie Wooster and Jeeves dated. Not in an historical sense, but in a cultural sense. We no longer live in a world of aristocratic or patriarchal authority, the world of service Jeeves inhabits, or the Great Depression, so making fun of a shallow, silly, idly rich man holds no satisfaction for me. These stories remind me of the Great Gildersleeve and Life of Riley on radio in the 30's and 40's, where the overbearing man of the household fumbles his way through a story of twists and turns that turn out right in the end. I'm glad I listened, but I won't be listening to any more.

PERFECTION!

British humor doesn't get better than this! Wodehouse is the master of droll wit and B. J. Harrison is BRILLIANT! I seldom just guffaw out loud while listening to a book, but I did in this one. My husband, hearing me laugh, said, "Wow, sounds like you picked a winner!" Highly recommended if you want your spirits lifted.
