Acerca de esta escucha

Perfect for fans of Scott Turow and John Lescroart, The Practical Navigator is a smart, fast-moving legal thriller where everyone’s motives—and desires—are in question.

Membership in the Great Arcadia, an exclusive East Coast yacht club, is pretty much limited to the rich and powerful in 1980s business, finance, and politics. But the sexually charged murder of Greek billionaire George Minot during their annual regatta off the coast of Maine opens a door into a secret world of addictive sexuality and excess beneath the starched sheets of the East Coast establishment.

Tim Bigelow is looking forward to spending a week at sea with the magical Cassie Sears, who has suddenly appeared in his life. He’s also there to celebrate his older brother, Harry—the retiring commodore of the Great Arcadia who’s on course for a major role in the White House. That prospect slips away when Minot is murdered and details start to come out, including the alarming fact that Minot saw himself as a latter-day embodiment of the Minotaur—the half-man, half-bull creature who lurked in the Labyrinth beneath the ancient city of Knossos in one of the oldest myths in the Western canon.

From the decks of the world’s finest yachts to the beds and boardrooms of some of the most powerful people in America to an electrifying courtroom trial in a dying coastal town, The Practical Navigator steers a course through its own labyrinth...a whirlpool of obsessive sexuality, murder, and despair.

An addictive tale, more than a bit lurid

Chris does an amazing job narrating this story, which draws on his detailed descriptions of yacht clubs, sailing, the Northeast coast from NY to Maine, with twists and turns of the law and high finance. He weaves a tale of intrigue entangled with murder, suicide and lurid sexual behavior that some are likely to find shocking. Others will find it hard to put down.

The Practical Navigator

An interesting and well told story. As a fan of Younger Next Year, I did not know what to expect. I am pleasantly surprised and look forward to Chris’ next.

A Great Story For A Long Ride

After reading most of The Younger Next Year books I thought I would listen to Chris’ novel The Practical Navigator and I’m glad I did. It was a great story. My wife and I enjoyed every minute of it while we drove from Central Colorado to Central Georgia. He took his friends advice and when he went deep he went even deeper. Not a story I would expect from an 80 year old man.

Pmpous Lawyer Writes a Great Novel

Chris Crowley has written some great books on health. They are the "Younger Next Year" series which i have read and live by. But then i saw that he wrote a novel, which is the dream of many lawyers. So i decided to give it a read and to my pleasant surprise, this pompous, pontificating former Marblehead sailor via NYC big law lawyer did what most lawyers that i know of, fail to do ... he wrote one hell of a novel. It had many layers of a fascinating story line coupled with great character development coupled with some great narratives on sailing and sex. I highly recommend this book!
