Mary-Anne Harper is hideously scarred from a dreadful fire. Desperate to relieve her ailing parents from the burden that she believes she is she responds to an advertisement for a mail order bride. An advertisement that makes no mention of physical attributes.
Clarence Richards, is a wastrel, running the family ranch into the ground. Knowing he should do better, in a drunken moment he pens an advertisement for a mail order bride. He never expected he would fall in love with the woman he knows only through letters. But his dreams are shattered the moment she alights the stage coach.
As Mary-Anne works alongside Clarence at the ranch, he struggles with his promise. Can he possibly make a good husband to this sweet but terribly scarred woman? On top of that there are some that are opposed to the marriage of the town gambler and the fearless, but scarred woman.
As tensions flare and truths are exposed, Mary-Anne is exposed to a shattering truth, and must make a decision she never wished to make. The consequences of her choice could be devastating.
