John Jasper (1812-1901) was a significant Baptist preacher known for his vibrant and dramatic speaking style! He presents his case for the sun's motion over a flat Earth in his most well-known sermon, The Sun Do Move, which he preached 273 times due to its widespread demand. As an evangelical Christian, he bases his case on the Bible, including referencing several biblical verses from Scripture. Whether or not you agree with his belief, you can find great encouragement in his unshakable faith in the "Solid Rock" of God's Word—despite the opposition and mockery of man. His humor and passion, along with his humility and love for God, can be heard throughout!
Isn't this just conspiracy theory? Not at all! It is most interesting to consider that scientists today acknowledge that geocentrism (and the geocentric model) presents a valid theory that "cannot be disproved" (Edwin Hubble). Yet, his sermon neither orbits the sun nor the Earth; it centers on Jesus Christ. You can find inspiration in Jasper's full determination to trust God's Word over any man's.
