Acerca de esta escucha

Best-selling master of suspense Jeffery Deaver is back with a brand-new Lincoln Rhyme thriller. To save the life of a young girl who's being stalked by a ruthless hit man, Lincoln and his protege, Amelia Sachs, are called upon to do the impossible: solve a truly "cold case", one that's 140 years old.

The Twelfth Card is a two-day cat-and-mouse chase through the streets of uptown Manhattan as quadriplegic detective Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs try to outguess Thompson Boyd, a man whose past has turned him into a killing machine as unfeeling and cunning as a wolf. Boyd is after Geneva Settle, a high school girl from Harlem, and it's up to Lincoln and Amelia to figure out why.

The motive may have to do with a term paper that Geneva is writing about her ancestor, Charles Singleton, a former slave. Charles was active in the early civil rights movement, but was arrested for theft and disgraced. Lincoln and Amelia work frantically to figure out what actually happened on that hot July night in 1868 when Charles was arrested.

Deaver's inimitable plotting keeps this story racing at a lightening-fast clip. With breathtaking twists and multiple surprises, this is Deaver's most compelling Lincoln Rhyme audiobook to date.

Ok story but still worth a listen.

The story was ok for me, had its moments of dragging and the "slang" used was cringeworthy. Narrator was ok. This is about my 4th book in the series and this one wasn't as good as the others in my opinion but still an ok purchase.

The Twelfth Card - Excellent

I love all of Jeffery Deaver's "Lincoln Rhymes" novels!! As soon as I am about 3/4 of the way through one I am anxiously awaiting the NEXT one to be released! I can hardly wait for them. He has a wonderful writing style that keeps you on the edge till the last minute and I just love the exhilaration. Lincoln and his merry band of cohorts are a riot, but Linc always has the last word! He is very funny, and serious at the same time. It's splendid the way Jeffery can write like that. I wish I had a quarter of his talent. Thanks Jeffery for another great book!! :)

140 year old cold case!

The story is fascinating and excellent; it's too bad a better author did not write it so it could earn 5 stars. Lincoln Rhyme works with protege Amelia Sachs to solve this mystery. Narration is excellent.

This actor is my favorite! He’s so expressive and really gets these characters.

good mystery and lots of surprises! I love how these characters are evolving. Again, reader is wonderful.

Good plot

Loved the twists and turns in plot. I do grow weary of the repeated recitation of the "evidence boards". Probably a useful device in print, but tedious in audio

Love Lincoln Rhyme but this was disappointing

The reader was miscast. He was not very good at character voices, and in this book, many of the voices had urban, cultural dialects, which are difficult for readers to do authentically. His lack of believability was disrracting, but the book has Issues as well. It is a slow-moving story, and the book includes lots of repetition. Although Lincoln Rhyme is an interesting and complex character, and the cast of characters around him is compelling, it was plot that was the problem this time. I just couldn't stay engaged in the story.

good story, but lazy narrator selection

Another good story. However, whoever selected the narrator made a big mistake. His attempt at adopting African American vernacular was cringe worthy. Not to mention, the production has strange occurrences of dead air. I highly recommend the story and it's twists and turns. I highly recommend buying a different version of this audio book with a different narrator.

GET REAl

Maybe I've read too many of these ,because the unrealistic events are getting on my nerves. If CSI is unbelievable these stories are worse, plus they have super woman Amelia there to save the day. What saves the book is a great twisting plot, as well as great characters good and evil. It's a good book if you can overlook how farfetched it is.The entire Ryme's series despite short comings is heads above a lot of mysteries out there now. God narration

Pauses excessive

Great book but long pauses made me check to see if the book stopped. A real pain. It almost made me stop listening but the story was good and should not be dismissed because of bad production. Please fix. Don't harm a good listen!

great book great read! I enjoyed 98% of this book.

The story is suspenseful like most of the books in this series. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. The slang from the reader seemed forced which took away from the story a little but it was still dynamite
