Adoption, family, live, loss
Like the Steel Magnolias movie references in the book, this is a tale of family that will make you laugh and cry. It is a road trip through Texas as a retirement trip for 2 old sassy ladies, a getting to know each other for an adoptee and her birth family, a punishment for a 16 year old, and a chance to fall in love for the only man on the trip. Read it for all the feels. The narrator does a great job.

Another unique story line
I don't know how Carolyn does it but this is another unique story line. Who ever heard of a road trip around Texas? And with biological relatives you never met. One thing you can count on is strong, quirky women.

Absolutely fantastic
I loved, loved, loved this book!!!! Loved the narrator — she was perfect.
A road trip with two old ladies, a belligerent teenage girl, an adopted woman and her just met birth mother and a
hot good looking driver; all traveling in a red Cadillac 1956 or 58 convertible with the top down on a month long trip around Texas. What a wonderful laughter filled journey. I won’t spoil the fun of listening by telling more about it. Read it yourself you won’t regret it. I plan to listen to it often.
It reminded me of the time in 1961 when my college roommate and I took off from S . C. And travelled the country. It took us 5 days to get through Texas. While in Texas we were looking to see a cowboy and finally saw one going into a drugstore.
This book will make you laugh and cry. One of the most enjoyable books I have read lately.

Quite Enjoyable!
Makes you want to take the same road trip and visit the places in the story! I love the characters and would like to meet them. American Families are so diverse. This story helps us experience how wonderful it is when life doesn't fit inside a neat little box. I look forward to finding and reading more of her stories.

The wedding pearls : 4.7 stars
What a journey!!! I love all the characters. Such a colorful people. Great storyline. Great writing. We can see here what a real friendship is - wow. I loved the love story of Tessa and Branch. I also loved that I could fill their attraction whithout any detailed sex scenes. I smiled a lot. Very recommended.

Great story it pulls you right into it !
This not my usual type of book, however my mom laugh so while reading it, I purchased it Contains a wonderful cast of characters, and is so well-written that it sucks you right in. The narrator did an excellent job of bringing these characters to life. naming an oxygen bottle Blister is a hoot. this is honestly a wonderful feel-good book.
