Grant wasn't who she thought he was, and neither is Stone's prime suspect.

A solid story!

I had forgotten what it felt like to read a good solid story. Since covid I have been reading a series that is dull and predictable. But I've stuck with it because I want to finish what I started. The last book had me so bored that I decided to switch it up.

I am so glad I did! This story had just the right amount of suspense and mystery to satisfy me. the characters will well-rounded and I was completely immersed in the story. I love when I cannot figure out who the killer is. It had a little bit of love and a whole lot of mystery just the way I like it. I might check out some of this author's other work.

This story is about a group of friends and one of them gets killed. Nobody is talking throw in some entitlement as it always happens to be with rich boys and a little bit of romance and you got yourself a good story.

Overall, A Pretty Good Listen.

This story held my interest even though it’s categorized as a young adult novel… the narration could be tough to take at times, but I couldn’t do better, so I try not to judge. The story wasn’t the most compelling, but it held my attention and I did want to keep getting back to it to find out “who done it”. Overall, a pretty good listen.

Super Twisty / can’t put it down

Great character development and I was legitimately surprised multiple times. The narrator has a great voice and the story builds nicely.

Kept me guessing the whole time. Great story. Loved the narration. Takes a minute to get past the cheesy southern accents.

Kept my attention until the end!

Just the right amount of mystery and intrigue and scandal. A little bit of romance thrown in there!

Hmm…just okay

I did not much enjoy the narration. Story had all the drama of small town drama but ending just felt like I’ve heard it before.

An okay mystery that's really a romance.

The narrator wasn't the worst I've heard but most characters sounded the same, at least teh male characters did.

I gave the book an extra star because of Mr. Stone and his impairment.

Story-wise... the presentation wasn't the best and I couldn't connect with any of the characters and they seemed insubstantial. There wasn't any foundation or context for the characters or why we should care about them.

I did want to know who the killer was but I found myself skipping to the end of the story. While I won't give away the ending, how Kate got there was pretty contrived and very Perry Mason like.

The reason for the killing was clear enough but again it lacked the context of any backstory. I suppose the backstory was given in snippets at the start/end of the various chapters but these just didn't hold my attention.

The only other thing I'll say is that how Kate hooked up with who she did was so far fetched, especially given what this person did, was barely a step above the insta-love many YA novels feature.

Engrossing story

I liked the narration. It drew me in and kept me guessing. Surprised by the ending!

Love the story development.

I loved how the murder was speaking throughout the book. Can’t wait read any book of hers.

Kept me listening, but was hoping for a more compelling ending. Overall a good read
