Resumen del Editor

What happened to the ancient Egyptians? When their civilization fell, did the Egyptian people disappear? Or do their descendants exist to this day? What about the ancient Persians? Romans? Mayans?

For years, the answers to these questions have been hidden. But no more. Nathaniel T. Jeanson, a Harvard graduate with a PhD in cell and developmental biology, has discovered a DNA-based, generation by generation family tree for global humanity. This tree uncovers the origin and fate of these ancient peoples—and connects them to peoples alive today.

The fascinating research presented in Traced has additional far-reaching consequences for numerous contemporary debates:

  • Race: Traced shows that the races have changed multiple times in human history. Thus, “White”, “Black”, “Asian” and other common descriptors lose their meaning in light of modern genetics.
  • Prehistory: Traced reveals that today’s Native Americans were not the first but replaced earlier inhabitants whose genealogical origins remain unknown.
  • History and origin of minority groups: The genetics in Traced restores the indigenous histories to many obscure people groups and connects them back to specific ancestors in Genesis 10.
  • The age of the Earth: Traced represents one of the strongest arguments in print for the recent origin of humanity.
  • Biblical authority: Historically, young-Earth creationists have sought to defend biblical authority from scientific attacks; Traced puts biblical authority on offense.

Dive into the wild and emerging field of historical genetics and see how these recent discoveries on the fate of ancient civilizations end up uncovering the story of the whole world. Traced: Human DNA’s Big Surprise will inspire, not only budding historians, archaeologists, geneticists, linguists, and anthropologists, but anyone interested the marvelous and messy story of humankind.

Superbly written and well narrated

Excellent accounting on the genealogical paths human history has taken from the beginning of Adam and Eve, through Noah and his sons, down through all of the nations. Highly recommend this book for everyone.

The Audio Experience Is a Slog

I can only assume the hard copy of this book with all the accompanying color plates helps. One reason I listen to audio books is because of the portability. With so many references to the accompanying PDF, it makes it somewhat hard to keep up, not to mention so much genealogical letter referencing.

Ultimately I’m glad to know so much of human genealogical history CAN be traced to Noah and his sons. But this could have been done with a much better or parred down reading.

At the very end he also references eternal conscious torment so prevalent in evangelicalism. It’s anti-loving God in my (and the Bible’s) view.

The reading wasn’t horrible but intonation was off throughout.

Fascinating

Traced uncovers mysteries of the origins of many people groups using Y chromosome mutation tracking. It is fascinating look into the science and scientific inferences that it makes possible. Highly recommend for anyone who is unfamiliar or curious.

Great insights

This helped illuminate an important piece of the human equation, and I look forward to hearing more of this science and from this scientist.

Whew!

I listened but suffered through the readers voice that flowed between whining, accusatory and just plain irritating. The book may have been better if I’d read it. There were endless references to previous chapters and maps and the story line was disjointed. Often within a paragraph the story jumped between centuries, cultures and locations. Given there are excellent books covering human DNA and historical events (anything written by Brian Sykes) my expectations may have been too high. I would have returned it but since Audible refused my last return (I have only returned two or three books out of nearly 200) I didn’t even try. Obviously others have liked this book so maybe you will too.

Very interesting findings, terrible narrator

I simply can not take in the content via this narrator who sounds little different than a robotic voice, completely disconnected from the content, just trying to rush through the text. Sad on such an interesting book!

Paradigm shifting research

People don’t know it yet but ancient historical records have been demonstrated to be true. That is exciting to see happening.
Dr. Jeanson has made his mark upon history with this outstanding research. Definitely the key to piecing together lost history and the migrations of the nations across the earth from ancient past. I’m looking forward to more!

Fascinating and Groundbreaking Work

This book probes the topic of human origins in a manner that has not been done before, to my knowledge, by tracing inherited genetic mutations on the male Y chromosome. Dr Jeanson’s work is a scientific investigation of human origins that I will be following closely. He breaks from the from the tired Darwinian dogma that has seduced so many in the scientific community. Very refreshing. This publication is best enjoyed in book form due to the numerous reference charts that are critical to understanding the topic. Listening on Audible will only suffice to a point. Kudos Dr Jeanson for an exciting and academic treatment of the origins of mankind.
