One of the best mysteries I've ever read

This book is outstanding in every way. The plotting was incredible. The surprises left me gasping. This is the start of the Will Trent series, to which I am now addicted. I don't want to say too much because I hate spoilers. If you like mysteries and police thrillers and can take some gritty things this is for you.

Awesome

Amazing! So board of others since Larsson and preson and Child but WOW I thought was amazing! Great Job, Totally unexpected and a "Page" turner, well ear bud turner!

Masterful, but very dark...

Will Trent is a good man, but broken in places by the situations of his life. This lends realism to this well-crafted mystery.
The author is very good at not telegraphing what's coming next. Suspenseful to the end, with many realistic twists and turns.
Some of the reader's Southern voices are somewhat contrived and not true.

Kept My Attention

This is my third Karin Slaughter book, and all three have been good the whole way through. her books are fun to read, suspenseful, and well written. She gives just enough detail to paint an interesting picture, but not enough to bore me by slowing down the excitement.

The Introduction of Will Trent

It takes a while to introduce Will Trent into the story. There is a large back story to this first Will Trent tale, and while it is needed, it does get a little labored at times. Overall, it is a good first look at a rather strange law enforcement officer.

Great Great Book!

Where does Triptych rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is been one of the most suspenseful books I've listened to in a long time! It's the1st one I've read of Karin Slaughter but it definitely won't be the last.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the characters. Will Trent is so open and honest.

What does Michael Kramer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I loved his accents for the characters. He did an awesome job and reeled me in. I will be looking for more books he has read.

Loved the narrator!!! Wow what a mystery. Story within story. Loved the book! Author gets you hooked right away.

Not a good beginning to a great series

Would you listen to Triptych again? Why?

Definitely Not! The narrator was awful. Every person had an annoying and unreal Southern accent. Honestly, the men all sounded straight from Dukes of Hazzard, and the girls all sounded like pole dancers. As an Atlanta native, I've never heard anyone speak like that. Narrator also pronounced several street/county names incorrectly, which would have been prevented if he had researched a little.

Definitely not

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Nothing extreme. Ending was broadcast by the middle of the book.

I gave this book four stars because while I was entertained, the last hour was a bit tedious and some of the characters got annoying. My main problem was the early Will Trent character. I made the mistake of reading Book 6 first, where Will was a capable and dedicated detective, physically diving for the bad guy with no difficulties. Unfortunately in Book 1, Will has so many negative character flaws, its difficult to like him. Intense insecurities, dyslexia, rotten childhood, OCD with his appearance, I pictured an androgynous male with no hope surviving in the world. Obviously I've got to read some books between #1 and #6, the character changes so much.

I really enjoyed this very well written read.
I highly recommend this book. to anyone looking for great descriptive imagery.

we listen to novels with the hope the author and narrator will create a story we cannot resist. I always read reviews of the novels but seldom write one. I could not let this book go without convincing the next perspective listener to choose it. No superheroes in this story. Terribly flawed characters who bring an interesting and stimulating journey. The narration was excellent. This is that book your friends will tell you about and can't stop talking about.
