Resumen del Editor

Unreliable, irresponsible, unpredictable, unaccountable—Yaz knows how her family views her.

She was never like them, though. Never academic enough, never serious enough, never really good enough.

He was different. Heath was the one who stuck up for Yaz when she was a child. As her brother's best friend and ten years older, he had been her hero—always defending her to her family, always seeing the best in her—he made her feel worthy of approval.

As her childhood adoration morphed into full-blown teenage love for her idol, and Heath grew from the good-looking boy she knew to the devastatingly handsome emergency department doctor he is today, his attitude seemed to change. For some reason, her quirks went from charming to annoying—her alternative worldview from refreshing to ridiculous. In fact, there are a lot of things about her that Heath seems to now find ridiculous:

"You look ridiculous, Midge."

"All this alternative therapy crap is a ridiculous waste of time."

"Your obsession with windsurfing is getting ridiculous."

"That ridiculous bike of yours is a bloody health hazard. When are you going to grow up and get a car?"

Having gone from worthy to unworthy in Heath's eyes, Yaz convinces herself that his cruelty has killed her childhood crush. After one humiliation too many, she finally cuts ties altogether. By the time Heath starts to see all that he could lose, it might be too late. Maybe it's not Yaz who's the unworthy one after all?

Unworthy is a full-length brother's best friend, secret crush, unrequited love, enemies-to-lovers contemporary romance.

This one might be my favorite in the series

Yaz and Heath story is beautiful which we knew was coming from book 1. I was so proud of Yaz standing up for herself especially to her family, how she didn't do it before is beyond me. I am so proud of her not just giving in and forgiving Heath right away. I understood why Heath was the way he was, but it was still no excuse to treating Yaz the way he did. I cried more in this story understanding how Yaz emotions and being torn down. It was also great to understand how much healing Heath needed. Amazing writing, Amazing Narration. 👏🏾

Great premise but irritating FMC

I so wanted to love this book. The MMC was perfection but I wish he had just thrown in the towel and found someone else. The FMC was one of the most annoyingly stubborn characters I have EVER read. Immature, selfish, and a huge whiner.

Susie Tate writes the BEST groveling 😆

📖 Unworthy by Susie Tate (@susietateauthor)
🎙️ Narrated by Zara Hampton-Brown (@zara_hamptonbrown) and Shane East (@shaneeastreads)

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5
Spice: 🌶️🌶️ / 5
Narration: 🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️/ 5

Susie Tate could hold a master class on men who grovel. Heath was such an ass to my beautiful summer-child, Yaz. We glimpsed it in Book 1, and he REALLY went for it in Unworthy.

Thankfully, we finally got some insight into his mindset and how much he adored Yaz, which made forgiving him easier. Of course, he had to do some groveling beforehand. (Thank you, Susie.) I was concerned that Yaz, with her pacifist lifestyle, would immediately forgive Heath’s dickish behavior, but that didn’t happen!

Unworthy didn’t emotionally wreck me like Unperfect did (so thanks again, Susie). It’ll had its own brand of yearning, which was delightfully angsty. And we got to see Max and Mia again, which was fun because Shane East did Max’s awesome accent 🫠

🎧 OMG, Zara and Shane are so damn good together. I just need them to narrate all of my British characters, please and thank you ☺️

TLDR: Angsty British romance with his best friend’s little sister.

Touching, Well written

I really loved Yaz. She is a great character in this book and the one before. I wasn't sure about the hero, but Tate keeps him from being a total tosser as secrets come out.

Please disregard negative slams on FMC

While I respect everybody’s right to their own opinion, it hurts me to see so many women reviewers slamming female characters for no apparent reason. In my opinion, it says more about how these reviewers see themselves than it does about the characters they are criticizing. It’s puzzling and confusing to me because I never see the same reviewers saying negative things when male characters are manipulative or insensitive.

This was my first Susie Tate book, and I’m so happy I decided to take advantage of the monthly sale to purchase it. It’s a deeply beautiful and emotional journey for two individuals who each overcome the hurts of their pasts to heal themselves and heal each other.

The MMC is the FMC’s greatest champion and kindest friend during her childhood. But he becomes distant, and then brutally derisive and hurtful, towards her as she grows into adulthood. The hurt and unworthiness she experienced at each new humiliation made my chest hurt. As we learn more about him, we can understand why he’s behaved that way, as does the FMC. But her bright, feisty, indomitable spirit has taken a beating, and she rightfully tells the MMC that although she loves him unconditionally, he must earn her trust back before they can be together. Although not quite as brutal, her family has been underestimating and diminishing her for her entire life because she is a free spirit, and they don’t understand her. In the end, it’s the MMC who makes them see how poorly they’ve been treating her.

Once the MMC realizes how terrible and unfair he’s been towards the FMC, he works hard to change his ways and earn a place in her life. He’s carrying around a lot of childhood baggage, and it’s not easy. But he does it because he loves her.

Susie Tate creates dynamic, interesting characters who are deeply flawed, just as we all are in one way or another. Their journey towards happiness is exquisite. She made me care about every single character, including the respective friends and family members of the MMC & FMC. I was drawn in immediately, and I listened to this audiobook in one go because it was so absorbing. There was plenty of plot to move things forward, including a bit of suspense.

Zara Hampton-Brown and Shane East are both phenomenally talented voice performers. They added depth to the story and brought it to life. I’m looking forward to listening to the other books in this series.

I can’t recommend this book highly enough! It’s sincere, organic, insightful, heartfelt, heart wrenching, sweet and scintillating. Go ahead! Use the credit. I promise you won’t regret it.

Irritating FMC

This is solely my personal opinion: I strongly dislike the FMC due to her overbearing insecurities. I understand creating a dynamic character and how her insecurities contribute to the storyline, but I was getting so aggravated by her lack of communication with literally everyone. I also think many parts of the story were unnecessarily rushed and or felt unfinished. I think there was a lack of depth to the storyline that created so many questions and contributed to my irritation with the FMC. The scenes regarding her family felt so unrealistic and it made me want to scream at her to speak the F**k up! She gave “poor me” I want a pity party vibes. Then when the MMC finally shows genuine interest, it feels forced because he was quite literally berating her shortly before. It felt like she was being lightly bullied by the entire set of characters and she was wallowing and pouting. I also hated the constant back and forth between the two when she was “injured”. It wasn’t like a sexy and exciting back and forth, it was a redundant kind of back and forth and it occurs multiple times throughout the story. The story is underdeveloped. It needs more story building and character building. I still have a tiny bit of the book left to read, but i honestly don’t feel I can finish it because I just get so frustrated. I think my cup of tea includes a more interesting and stronger female main character. I also hated the fact that she is supposedly ms. Independent with some success, yet no one has noticed literally at all??? It’s so unrealistic and this story is not a fantasy story. I also hate that her character behaves like an immature child regarding her emotions when she’s supposedly this “strong, independent, and successful” woman, but on the other hand she’s being taken advantage of by some 2nd class surfer boy??? No one builds a successful business and gains all these certifications only for that person to suddenly forget how the business side of things work and becomes an easy target to take advantage of by someone who she works so closely with. Ugh, there are just so many unrealistic issues with this story. I’m annoyed just writing this review.
