Resumen del Editor

Are you a fan of homebrewed beer and wine? Did you know that you can make mead just as easily? Are you wondering how easy it is to make hand-crafted spirits at home? Do you simply want to know what a "mead" is and how it's made? This book is for you!

Every Viking movie probably starts with the leader of the troop drinking something out of an animal horn or a wineskin on their waist. I later started to believe that it was whatever they drank that made them strong and ruthless. I wanted to know what it was and how exactly it was made.

I came to learn that the precious drink in the horn is what we call today a mead.

This book is, therefore, suitable for any person who has an interest in meads and Viking wines. If you have ever found yourself desiring to find out more about Viking drinks or if you have tried to drink meads sold in stores today, this book is for you.

Meads are "precious drinks" if we are to describe them in two words. Forget about the over-the-counter mead you are used to. The meads sold in stores today have diluted the real meaning of the mead. Those who have tasted a real mead prepared in the native traditional way can tell you that it is a drink to die for.

My obsession with Vikings drove me to learn more about their history, traditions, and their foods.

Over time, I have come to identify myself as a true Viking. One of the most important things that I have learned from the Vikings is how to prepare meads and natural wines. You can't be a Viking unless you can prepare their drinks and enjoy their traditional wines.

In my book all about making meads and wild wines, you will learn:

  • History of Meads and Wine Making
  • Glossary of Terms about Meads and Natural Wines
  • How to Attain Traditional Viking Drinks Today
  • Is it Legal to Brew at Home in America?
  • Mead Making Tools and Ingredients
  • Natural Yeast Alternatives Used by Vikings
  • Basic Principles Behind Mead Brewing
  • The General Mead Preparation Formula
  • Aging and Flavoring Meads and Wines
  • Mead Alcohol Content Balancing
  • 35+ Mead Recipes Inspired by Vikings
  • Extra Tips on Making Meads and Viking Wines
  • 7 Tips for Storing and Aging Wine and Meads
  • Troubleshooting and Correcting Mead Problems

All this content, plus much more! After reading my book, you will be an expert at making authentic Viking-inspired meads and wild wines.

Here is one of my favorite recipes from my book:

Authentic Norwegian Glogg

While this recipe is not specifically completely homebrewed, you could make your own version of red wine and make this drink. Alternatively, you could use your favorite store-bought red wine, but it would be so much more special with your homemade spirits!

Ingredients

•1 bottle of red wine

•1 teaspoon of cardamom

•5 cloves

•1 stick of cinnamon- sliced

•2-inch piece of ginger chopped

•12 ounces of white sugar

•350 ml of vodka

•3 ounces of raisins and almonds

Instructions

1. Gently heat the red wine on medium heat and add the cardamom, cloves, ginger, and cinnamon to the wine in a spice bag.

2. Gently stir the mixture so that the spices can be saturated into the wine. Add sugar or honey to the wine and continue stirring until it is fully dissolved.

3. Remove your ingredients from the heat and let your glogg cool for about 2 hours.

4. Now, add the vodka of your choice and place it over medium heat. Heat until the mixture attains a temperature of 170 degrees F or just before it boils.

5. Now, add raisins and almonds to your drink and transfer the drink to a punch bowl. Remove the spices bag. Ladle the glogg in large cups with little spoons to scoop out the almonds and raisins.
