Acerca de esta escucha

John Carter, Prince of Helium, has been imprisoned for a Martian year, his wife in another cell - alive or dead, he doesn't know.

In this continuation of the saga of the amazing world of Barsoom, the love story of Carter and Dejah Thoris - the red-skinned, oviparous princess - unfolds. Like all the tales in the series, fantasy and adventure combine in a style as malleable as dreams, exotic and dangerous and unending.

love the barsoom trilogy.

I love the barsoom trilogy. But the narrator slowly gets harder to bear throughout the three books. The voices done, are grating and hard to listen to at times. In the third book, it seems some lines were forgotten and had to be dubbed into the recording thereafter, only with different recording equipment or something, for it's extremely obvious when the voice changes in quality. often better quality might I add.

Great Conclusion!

This was a great close to the series, with a complete, real ending. Constant action and fun like the previous two books. Good values, including working together with those from different cultures and backgrounds than your own, and fighting for love. Edgar Rice Burroughs was a real talent! Would read again. The narration is good, too, once you listen a few minutes to get used to the southern accent (because John Carter is from Virginia).

Can't call it predictable if it came first

This was on the free catalog, but the narrator was poor. I listened to the other John Carter books on Libervox and don't remember disliking the narrator as much. Liked the old time feel of this pulp fiction. It is not apologetic about violence and liking to fight. Something that is missing in our modern fantasy with all the reluctant hero flem flam.

More old fashioned fun

Impossibly heroic John Carter pursues bad guys all over Mars to save the incomparable Dejah Thoris, Princess of Helium. All female characters fall passionately in love with Carter, who remains faithful to Dejah Thoris, while the worst bad guys are obsessed with Dejah Thoris (but don't actually hurt her). Carter's Victorian rhetoric never fails him through endless improbable coïncidences and plot twists, some of which are actually surprising. Burroughs'imagination also never fails him - new treats include magnetic weapons, secret communicating rings and arctic cities in greenhouses. The narrator is great - he really gets into the spirit!

Engaging story.

Aside from the audio editing it was engaging. Who am I to critique. Just a lonesome hobo…
