Resumen del Editor
For fans of Robin Benway's Far from the Tree, a powerful and heartwarming look at a teen girl about to age out of the foster care system.
Growing up in foster care, Muir has lived in many houses. And if she's learned one thing, it is to Pack. Light. Carry only what fits in a suitcase.
Toothbrush? Yes. Socks? Yes. Emotional attachment to friends? Foster families? A boyfriend? Nope! There's no room for any additional baggage.
Muir has just one year left before she ages out of the system. One year before she's free. One year to avoid anything - or anyone - that could get in her way.
Then she meets Francine. And Kira. And Sean.
And everything changes.

Macey and Ben Samuelson have much to be thankful for: great friends, a beautiful - if high-maintenance - Victorian house on idyllic Tybee Island, and a rock-solid marriage. The only thing missing is what they want the most. After her fifth miscarriage in six years, Macey worries that the family they’ve always dreamed of might be out of reach. Her sister suggests adoption, but Macey and Ben aren’t interested in pursuing that path...until a three-legged Golden Retriever named Keeper wags his way into their home and their hearts.

Historia
In an idyllic Los Angeles neighborhood, where generations enjoy deep roots in old homes, the O’Rourke family fits right in. Miriam and Craig are both artists and their four children carry on the legacy. When their teenage son, Nick, is diagnosed with schizophrenia, a tumultuous decade ensues in which the family careens off the conventional course. Like the 10 Biblical plagues, they are hit by one catastrophe after another: violence, evictions, arrests, a suicide attempt, a near-drowning - even cancer and a brain tumor - play against the backdrop of a wild teenage bacchanal.

Clare and Henry have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was 36. They were married when Clare was 23 and Henry was 31. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity from his life, past and future. The American child welfare system is bent toward protecting adults, not children. Kids in danger are treated instrumentally to promote the rehabilitation of their parents, the welfare of their communities, and the social justice of their race and tribe. It is time to stop letting efforts to fix the child welfare system get derailed by activists who are concerned with race-matching, blood ties, and the abstract demands of social justice, and start asking the most important question: Where are the emotionally and financially stable, loving, and permanent homes where kids can thrive?

Cris Beam, a foster mother herself, spent five years immersed in the world of foster care looking into these questions and tracing firsthand stories. The result is To the End of June, an unforgettable portrait that takes us deep inside the lives of foster children in their search for a stable, loving family. True, beautiful and endearing
LOVED this book. It’s so true to the account of children in foster care. I love that it identifies the brokenness of the our system. The treasures that kids can find meaning about in the middle of heartbreak. I didn’t want the book to end because I wanted to see more of her journey in experiencing love inside her and around her.

Great characters with believable lives
Muir’s development, learning not to be scared to care, learning to trust others and to stand up for what she believed was right and the truth.

Best foster care book
I read this book for my language arts class and I fell in love with this. If you want to learn more about foster care you’ll love this. It definitely hooked me in and I was thrown for some twist. 10/10 recommend

Characters you can route for.
Narration was terrific. Story was well written and the characters well developed. I was so invested in the main characters outcome.

Thank You
A story that truly speaks the story of real foster kids! I also fell in love Muir’s character and name! I maybe naming a child Muir in the future! I wish these books and stories had found me as a teenager. When your in the system it feels like no one else “gets it,” but Muir, she got it!

Enlightening
I loved the author's descriptiveness. Listen to her note at the end. She did her homework for this book.

A feel good story.
This was a world that I knew existed, but really knew nothing about. items that can mean the world to some and nothing to someone else. This is a story that holds your heart.
