Acerca de esta escucha

If there is one thing the young golfer Lee Ofsted doesn't have on her mind, it is her chances of being selected for the Stewart Cup Tournament ( the competition that pits the greatest American golfers, male and female, against their British and European counterparts. Lee is on no one's list of the !'greatest American golfers," so it comes as a surprise when the great Roger Finley, captain of the American team, invites her to play.

She's on the team, but exhilaration soon gives way to anxiety. Can she deliver? However, as play begins, Lee's worries about making a fool of herself take second place when Roger's devoted, long-time caddie is found murdered, and Lee herself is the victim of an attempt on her life. It takes all of Lee's nerve and natural talent to see the competition through, to keep out of the gunsights of a resourceful killer, and, in the end, to make sense of a bizarre and paradoxical mystery.

Reseñas editoriales

Aaron and Charlotte Elkins, the husband-and-wife writing team who together have won an Agatha Award, collaborated on this mystery novel about female professional golfer Lee Ofsted. Partly inspired by P.G. Wodehouse's work on the "gentleman's game", the Elkins' place their protagonist on idyllic golf courses, but also tend to involve Ofsted in murder investigations. This series is a favorite amongst golf fans for its realistic depiction of the game, but the books also appeal to people who have never swung a club. Because Ofsted is anxious that she can't compete at a high level in the Stewart Cup Tournament, actress Julia Farhat's young, feminine, and perky voice especially complements the narration.

A very enjoyable read

I was drawn to this series because of the golf setting and wound up enjoying the story lines and the narration. Once started I was eager to get back to it and that is what I look for in a book.
