Resumen del Editor

Audible narration by David Harbour (Stranger Things)

Nature or nurture? Neither. Discover a bold new way to raise a child in this unsettling story of the near future by the New York Times bestselling author of A Gentleman in Moscow.

When Sam’s wife first tells him about Vitek, a twenty-first-century fertility lab, he sees it as the natural next step in trying to help their future child get a “leg up” in a competitive world. But the more Sam considers the lives that his child could lead, the more he begins to question his own relationships and the choices he has made in his life.

Amor Towles’s You Have Arrived at Your Destination is part of Forward, a collection of six stories of the near and far future from out-of-this-world authors. Each piece can be read or listened to in a single thought-provoking sitting.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"...[David] Harbour’s lively narration makes for a performance that's difficult to stop listening to. The short length works well, and characters crackle with life as Harbour's gruff cadence and occasional spot of humor keep the story engaging. The work will stick with listeners, thanks to its compelling narration and intriguing 'what-if' elements." (AudioFile magazine)

"...a sensational project...." (Spine Magazine)

"This is exactly how I like my techno-anxiety.... Happy bingeing!" (Audible, an October Editors Pick)

Enjoyable hour

Quick listen, enjoyed the story. The story is interesting in that it leads to a lot of introspection.

Twilight Zone

I thought it was kind of like listening to or watching one of the old Twilight Zone shows. I liked the narrator a lot.

great narrator

David Harbour is a great narrator, the story itself wasn't quite gripping to me but I will definitely be looking to see what other stories David narrates.

Good start, but then, that was it

This story started out with a cool idea and then... it just went nowhere... or I guess maybe it went in a different direction that was not a good direction. I was bummed about this for two reasons. 1) I thought it started out with an intriguing idea that I wanted to hear more about. 2) David Harbour did a great job narrating. I want to hear more audiobooks narrated by him.

Thoughtful and engaging, but confusing at a couple spots

For a short story it manages to give the fullness of a book by giving you contours that your mind can fill. Though the ending seems inclusive, it may be the point, being that it parallels the plots. There are a couple times where the story seems to shift without a linear logical transition into how the new scene came to be.

Delightful in all ways

Amor Towles amazed me with <A Gentleman in Moscow>, so this story appealed to me. I used Audible and enjoyed David Harbour’s narration. It sounded like a Stephen King story in its creepy cautionary tale dystopia. Loved it.

Amor Towles does it again!

This was one of the most engaging stories I've ever read and it is no surprise that it comes from the pen of Amor Towles.

I admit to being a great fan of the author's work..."Rules of Civility" is in the top 5 of all the books I have ever read and "Gentleman in Moscow" ranks in the top 10!l Most of the remaining 10 would be considered classics so his work is in very esteemed company!

Don't miss this little jewel of a story...wonderfully read by David Harbour...it will give you lots of food for thought!

Great story

Loved the story, at first the narrative voice was annoying to me, then halfway through sounded like a good fit

You won’t be disappointed!

If you appreciated the outstanding literary quality of A Gentleman in Moscow and Rules of Civility, you will also appreciate this author’s skill with a short story. The story is set just enough in the future to have some edginess while the main character’s struggles are timeless. Towles’ special talent with prose unites those elements to make a gripping and relevant short tale.
