YouTubeチャンネル「大愚和尚の一問一答」で17万人を越える視聴者の方に登録していただき、多くのアドバイスをする中で、「苦しみには共通したパターンがある」ということに気づいた。
この本には、これまで著者が受けた悩み相談に対する
「苦しみの手放し方」が書いてある。
人間関係の悩み、仕事の悩み、お金の悩み、経営の悩み、子育ての悩み、家族関係の悩み、恋の悩み、病気の悩みなど、50の事例が綴ってある。
僧名「大愚」は、大バカ者=何にもとらわれない自由な境地に達した者の意。
愛知県小牧市に540年の歴史を誇る禅寺、福厳寺の弟子として育つ。3歳で経を習い5歳で葬儀デビュー、10歳で僧籍を取得するも、厳しい師匠や堅苦しいしきたり、「お寺の子」と噂される重圧に反発して寺を飛び出す。
32歳で起業。慈悲心を具現化したいと、複数の事業を立ち上げて軌道に乗せる。
社員教育は人間教育であることを実感し、40歳を目前に寺に戻ることを決意。平成27年に福厳寺31代住職に就任。令和元年には、仏教の本質に立ち返って「慈悲心、知恵、仏性を育む」ことを宗旨とする佛心宗を興し、従来の慣習や常識にとらわれない、会員制寺院として新たなスタートを切る。
紆余曲折を経て現在、空手家、セラピスト、社長、教育者など5つの顔を持つ異色の僧侶が贈る人生を明るく、強かに生きるための発想の転換。苦しみを手放して楽に生きるきっかけを与える具体的な知恵を伝える。
