08-26-2024 - Geomagnetic, Solar, and Radio Activity Observations and Forecast

  • Resumen

  • Hey there, weather enthusiasts! It's time for a rundown of the 3-day forecast straight from the U.S. Department of Commerce, NOAA, Space Weather Prediction Center. Let's dive right in!

First up, let's talk geomagnetic activity. Over the past 24 hours, the observed Kp level was 3, staying below NOAA Scale levels. As we look ahead to Aug 26-28, we're expecting a peak of 4.00, still below any significant geomagnetic storm levels. So, no need to worry about Northern Lights dancing too crazily in the sky.

Moving on to solar radiation activity. Currently, we're below S-scale storm thresholds. Looking ahead to the next few days, there's a 10% chance of experiencing a minor solar radiation storm. So, keep those sunglasses on hand just in case things get a bit sunny up there.

And now, for the radio blackout forecast. Thankfully, no blackouts were spotted in the last 24 hours. But, looking forward, we have a 70% chance of seeing Minor to Moderate radio blackouts, along with a slight possibility of Strong events. So, keep your radios tuned in for any unexpected interruptions.
