1. An Explorer's Perspective: Robert Swan Walks to the South and North Poles

  • Resumen

  • Welcome to Undaunted, with Robert Swan and NTT DATA. In the 1980s, Robert became the first person to walk to the South and North poles. More recently, he's tried twice to finish his roughly 1,500-mile walk across the entire Antarctic landmass, but devastating injuries stopped him both times. He intends to complete the 97 remaining miles in an expedition he calls "Undaunted: South Pole 2023."

In Episode 1, we learn about Robert's original treks to the South and North poles, the physical challenges, excruciating conditions, ultimate success ... and the emptiness that sometimes comes after achieving a momentous goal. We also hear about what came next and how Jacques Cousteau gave Robert a 50-year mission to preserve Antarctica as an independent land reserved for science and peace. In pursuit of this mission, Robert advocates for clean energy as well as sustainable business practices and personal lifestyles.

In future episodes, we'll hear more about Robert's expeditions and his mission to save Antarctica by changing the world. We'll also learn how organizations and individuals can begin their own journeys toward sustainability.
