  • This is the first of a four-part series about influential German shorthaired pointers from the NW United States. Charles and Fred Rice head to Idaho to talk with Ron Laird and Jim McCue. Ron hunted and handled pointing dogs in field trials most notably a German shorthaired pointer named Jack-Beier’s Evolution. Jim McCue's father Doc owned Jack. In this conversation, we wander from hunting stories to what made Jack one of the "greats."
