2: Unlikely Objects Mostly

  • Resumen

  • The second episode of Unlikely Objects Mostly looks at Alasdair's chessboard and the role chess played in his practice: uncovering the game's pivotal role in the making of the Hillhead Subway mural and the novel Poor Things. It then goes on to explore the artist's radical openness to other people and fascination with the way they work: an interest that informs the game of chess and the companionable nature of so much of Alasdair's work. Unlikely Objects Mostly is produced by Christopher Silver for the Alasdair Gray Archive, with support from the Scottish Graduate School of Arts and Humanities, Creative Scotland and research assistance from Kim Crowley.
