  • Dr Ernest J. Barthélemy and Luca Granato discuss how a neurosurgeon can gain the tools required to tackle the problems they will come to face in the global landscape. They also discuss the sociopolitical factors affecting the Haitian community and its direct impact on the healthcare system and healthcare providers as well as ways to safely navigate these challenges through advocacy. 

     

    Dr. Ernest J. Barthélemy is a neurosurgeon, global health scientist, and Chief of the Division of Neurosurgery in the Department of Surgery at the SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn, New York. A Haitian-American native of New York City, Dr. Barthélemy completed his medical education and neurosurgery residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, and subsequently completed post-residency fellowships in both clinical neurotrauma and in health equity at the University of California, San Francisco.
