  • In this episode, we are joined by historian, professor, and author of the book France in the Second World War, Chris Millington. With him, we take a deep, reevaluating look at the 1940 fall of France, questioning the popular narrative of French cowardice, lack of preparation, and inferior military capability as being the reasons for their defeat.

    From internal struggles amongst generals, to recognizing that it was not just a French failure, but rather an Allied failure, to looking at how the events during the Summer of 1940 impacted politics around the world in the years after, we explore what makes the fall of France History's Most Misunderstood Defeat.
