    Nov 10 2024

Described as “profound”, “mesmerising”, “bracing and transformative", the award winning play, Yentl has extended its run at the Sydney Opera House due to popular demand.

Set in 1870 in a small town in Poland, Yentl follows the journey of a young woman who refuses to live by the Jewish orthodox tradition, which forbids females from studying scripture.

  • Professor Richard Scloyer OAM on his incredible new book
    Nov 10 2024

There are a few Australians greater than Professor Richard Scolyer.

As co-director of the Melanoma Institute of Australia, he led the charge in creating immunotherapy, which is a treatment for deadly melanoma skin cancers, that supercharges the body’s immune system to destroy cancer cells.

The treatment led to him being honoured as being one of the two Austrlaians of the year in 2024.

Everything changed after he was diagnosed with an incurable brain cancer in 2023.

Not going to accept the status quo, he chose to undertake a world-first experimental treatment based on melanoma science.

    And he survived.

Luke Grant chats with Professor Richard Scolyer to hear his story and chat about his new book, Brainstorm, and his upcoming talk at the Sydney Opera House. You can order a copy of ‘Brainstorm’ here

  • “No one is graduating” - Fee Free Tafe fiasco exposed
    Nov 10 2024

Labor has promised to make 100,000 fee-free TAFE places available every year if re-elected.

The move has been condemned by the opposition, who say the government has been secretive in not releasing graduation data, which they attribute to a high dropout rate among students.

In other jurisdictions which have had the policy, the completion rates for some courses is as low as 1%.

Luke Grant chats with Deputy Opposition Leader, Susan Ley, to find out why the government has been hiding the data close to its chest and what we do know about the deeply flawed policy.
