6: Dean Gleeson: Why Following Your Passions Is Key To Success

  • Resumen

  • Dean is an award winning barber and business owner who has fought against life changing auto immune disease ulcerative colitis. Dean is an amazing guy who not only shares his story of his diagnosis, his operations and how that affected his mind and body but also the power of saying no, how it is key to follow your passions and why it's so important to look after yourself first.
In this conversation we cover many topics from his hobbies, habits and views on mental health, especially male mental health and being open about what you are going through. We also discuss his career, how he has got to where he is now but also how is illness impacted it and how it will never stop him pursuing his big goals - one being helping others to overcome adversity.
Dean talks about why he loves a daily cold shower and how being comfortable in being uncomfortable is something we all need to learn. He also shares his favourite self development reads - A Company of One by Paul Jarvis, Start With Why by Simon Sinek, and Atomic Habits by James Clear.
I have known Dean for nearly 10 years and so, although I knew some of his story, hearing more in depth about his journey and how much he has grown, his positivity and determination to just keep striving for those big goals inspires me to dig a little deeper into my own goals and really push for achieving my wildest dreams. I hope this episode does the same for you.
