  • Elijah (“My God is Jehovah”): A prophet of Israel, born around 9th century BC in Tishbe, Gilead. His ministry left a profound impact not only in his days, but also in the age of the New Testament.
    A. Elijah’s Early Ministry: Elijah was a witness of faith who believed in Jehovah God. During the early reign of King Ahab, when Elijah began ministering actively, Baal worship was widespread under the influence of Queen Jezebel (1 Kings 16:29-33). So the Prophet Elijah declared to King Ahab that Israel would suffer from a severe draught (1 Kings 17:1). This reflected God’s will to make the people of Israel return to Him realizing that Baal, the god of prosperity and rain, was a useless idol.
