If you're familiar with mental training in professional sports, you're in for a treat! You may have heard of the incredible technique of visualization or mental rehearsal. It's the process of mentally rehearsing the desired outcome. Bobsleigh pilots like Francesco Friedrich, for example, rehearse their next course hundreds of times so that their bodies and minds know almost automatically when to turn left, right, or hit the brakes.

And of course, all the other peak performers like Tiger Woods or Serena Williams, who are running the Olympics, use the power of visualization to outperform their competitors. The extraordinary swim star Michael Phelps, for example, accelerated his mental game not just by thinking about the best possible outcome. He mentally rehearsed even alternate outcomes and variations of the upcoming event!

“When I would visualize, it would be whatever I wanted it to be, and it would be whatever I didn't want it to be. You are always ready no matter what comes your way,” says Phelps, and that is a true winners mindset.

The most amazing thing about mental rehearsal or visualization is that our brain doesn't know whether we've physically practiced or just imagined it. It will always react the same way as if you were physically doing it.

And there's more! Visualization is also a fantastic tool for bringing clarity, commitment, and drive to your teams and businesses. Steve Jobs, an extremely successful entrepreneur and storyteller of this century, showed us the best way to do it. He was a huge advocate and fan of simple yet successful visualizations and presentations.
