  • Resumen

  • This is a podcast for women, about women, featuring women...It's about what happens when we turn 50 and our culture quietly deems us irrelevant. But we are not our mothers. There's a new generation of 50+ women who are redefining what it means to thrive in the second half of our lives. Whether you are still raising children, working, caring for aging parents, or just looking for the next chapter, my guests will inspire you. This show was born out of the fact that I know so many rock star women who have important stories to tell. Join me as we unpack their incredible journeys with laughter and sometimes tears.

  • Susanne Morais: Educator turned hypnotherapist shares her wisdom about the transformative powers of hypnotherapy
    Jul 15 2024

Susanne Morais left a career in higher education to pursue something that she says “feeds her soul.” Susanne worked at Clemson University, Penn State University, and North Carolina State University. Now, she owns a hypnotherapy business. That’s right, I said hypnosis. She is a certified hypnotherapist who believes that hypnosis has the power to transform lives, and not in the voodoo way it is often portrayed in Hollywood. You will love hearing how Susanne jumped into this world after decades of teaching, and how she believes that all change is possible if you truly want it.

  • Jeanie Chang: Therapist travels the world talking about mental health through the lens of Korean dramas
    Jul 8 2024

Jeanie Chang has lived nine lives. She started her career as a journalist in Washington, D.C. Then she got a Master's degree in marketing. But at the height of her family’s parenting chaos while raising four young children with her educator husband she decided to go back to school and become a therapist. Working in mental health opened up a whole new world to Jeanie, one where she could blend her two cultures—American and South Korean. Now, she travels the world speaking about mental health through a highly unusual lens. She uses Korean dramas as a jumping off point to tackle traumatic subjects. Jeanie brings intelligence, warmth, and her infectious personality to everything she does, and this episode is no exception.

  • Janet Cowell: From finance to a life of public service, she embodies what it means to be a strong and compassionate leader
    Jul 1 2024

Growing up in Tennessee, thanks to her parents, Janet Cowell just knew she had a big life ahead of her. After getting an undergraduate degree and multiple graduate degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, including an MBA from Wharton, she followed the finance path. But examples in her family continued to pull her and her heartstrings in the direction of public service. Janet served as a Raleigh city councilor, a state senator, and as North Carolina’s State Treasurer. Now, she’s campaigning to be Raleigh’s next mayor. She is also the head of the Dix Park Conservancy-a nonprofit that is spearheading the development of this 300-plus acre green space in Raleigh to create a public park. Janet tells me the hardest part of being a female leader is being perceived as both competent and nice. I’m here to tell you that she is equally both. You will appreciate her thoughtful, insightful take on what it means to be a woman in politics in 2024.
