This Sermon, "A Recipe for Success" was written by Rev. Christopher B. Cain of Alive Ministries USA. This recording was done June 25, 2023 at United Baptist Church of Littleton. The passage is 2 Chronicles 34:1-19 and chronicles the steps that King Josiah took during his reign to destroy the false prophets and idols and the alters to these idols in order to walk in the ways of his father David. These steps when applied to our lives as believers will help us to make God the focus of our lives, which is His rightful place. Anytime we have something more important to us than God, or something that gets in the way of the worship, time and love we have for God it is an idol. We must repent and turn to Christ Jesus.

What does it mean to have Christ live in us?

“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20 NKJV)

1. We are to be crucified in Christ, for the purpose of dying to self and to sin.
2. For those who are born again believers in Christ, it is no longer our life, but Christ’s.
3. The Life that we now live in the flesh, we live by faith in the Son of God, who loved us and gave Himself for us.

In one sense it is no longer we who live as Paul says, “We have been crucified with Christ”, but there is also a recognition that we are still living in our fleshly bodies. This is speaking of the duality that we have as born again believers. While we have a Spirit being created in us a new life in Christ, we also still are occupying our earthly bodies. We know that we will continue to be transformed by the renewal of our mind, through the power of Scripture and the Holy Spirit to direct us in the ways of God, we must also at the same time resist the urges, or desires of the flesh.

2 Timothy 1:7 tells us that, "God has not given us a Spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."

The solution to fear is Truth, not subjective shades of truth, but THE TRUTH, The Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Gospel empowers us to fight fear, do you know Jesus or are you like Pontius Pilate, staring Truth in the face and left asking, "What is Truth?"
