This week we talk with William Strickland from Mobile Baykeeper about an issue that is concerning our local fishery as well as the ecosystem here in Mobile Bay and surrounding areas. What are the primary concerns regarding the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' dredging project? How might the dredging project specifically impact the Gulf sturgeon and other marine life? What legal obligations does the Corps have to protect threatened species like the Gulf sturgeon? How does sediment dumping affect the local fishing industry and habitats such as oyster reefs? What actions are you hoping to see from the Corps to mitigate these issues? Can you discuss the support you've received from local fishing associations and charter captains? What role do local communities play in conservation efforts for Mobile Bay? How does the recent study on Gulf sturgeon populations in Mobile Bay influence your advocacy? What steps can the public take to support the protection of Mobile Bay and its marine life?
