  • Seven Wonders of the Modern World - Part 1
    Jul 16 2024
If there were seven man made sites that could define the world as it is today and continue to ring through the ages, what would they be? Who better to answer this question than three middle class white English men with no formal expertise in history, anthropology or architecture. I'm sure this won't take us too long... The rules are as follows: 1) The place must have been constructed after 1750 2) It's got to be a place (The internet is not a place, go outside) 3) It has to be on Earth Right, off we go... • Skanderbeg - Part 1
    Dec 20 2023
We are finally doing away with any pretense that this is a travel show and going all in on history. This time inspired by my parking spot in the city of Kruj, I talk to Mat and Adam about one of the most prominent figures in Albanian history. The 15th century super soldier, warlord and Albanian Braveheart, Skanderbeg. • The Littleport Uprising - Part 1
    Nov 8 2023
Join us once again in the history hole. This time Mat and I talk about an event that not very many people outside North Cambridgeshire know about, inspired by my driving around the area this summer. The Littleport Riot of 1816 was one of a large number of food riots across the UK during the early 19th century. In this part we explore the background to the events and what happens when a group of farm labourers reach the end of their tether. It turns out they invent some pretty ingenious weapons systems. • The Green Revolution
    Nov 1 2023
We're back from our short break with a bit of history. This time I hand the reins over to Mat who gives me a brief overview of the Green Revolution of the mid twentieth century. Yes, it's sort of travel related. History happens in places. Places are where you travel to. Nuff said. You can contact us through allpointspod@gmail.com or Twitter @allpointscast. • A bit more Bosnia chat - With An Englishman in the Balkans
    Oct 24 2023
While I get on top of all the work things I need to do in order to eat and put fuel in Abbie, here's an episode of An Englishman in the Balkans podcast that I guested on. The show is well worth a listen for a crash course in the region. Alongside a companion show "Travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina." You can find these wherever you find podcasts. There will be some more episodes coming very soon. But I hope you enjoy this for the time being.
